Pump GFCI breaker trips when bonding wire attached

I will agree and second the advice to fix the wiring although I doubt it is the reason the GFCI is tripping. The GFCI is only looking at the power the pump is using and monitoring it on the return side, so what ever is going into the pump via the 2 or 3 strands is all it is looking for on the...

    Mastertemp 125 heater won't fire

If you can smell gas then the safeties all are OK and the igniter should be OK. Sounds like the burner orifices may be plugged up. systems like these will not allow the gas valve to open if the igniter doesn't work or if one of the safety switches is opened (not allowing signal to pass) Dan

    Electricity in basket housing

The reason you are feeling a shock is because the pool water, isolated from everything else around it is at one voltage potential and the surrounding area is at another voltage potential. When you are standing on the ground (with bare feet) and you touch the water it is the same as touching the...

    What size heater?

Cost to run a heater is based on the fuel cost per BTU and the BTU load of the pool. A BTU is the energy used to raise 1lb of water 1 deg (f). If you have a 80,000 lb pool and a 100,000 BTU heater (80% efficient is normal) you should see about a 2 deg rise in temp per hour. Assuming a cost of...

Hayward H100ID Heater Popping and Shaking

Are you running the pump on the highest setting? These have a tendency to boil water in the heat exchanger if the flow is low. However, the if the flow is too low the pressure switch won't allow it to come on. You might be right on the edge of that though. Not sure what you are expecting when...

    Hayward H100ID screaming sound

I have this heater and can get mine to do the same thing. When the heater is on and the pump(2 speed) is running on low it will do this. Turning the pump on to high speed the problem goes away. Never could explain what is causing it. My heater is pushing 10 years old now and, with a few repairs...

Hayward H250 Millivolt Heater - Burner Won't Fire

At 600 MV it should light. However, I have been trolled by thermopyles that seem to put out a good voltage but when under load seem to drop low enough to not allow them to light. The first thing I would do is to make sure all connections on all of the safety devices are good. These can build up...

    Heater not heating

OK, ... Several things need to happen for one of these to work. First is the call for heat. Switch on and thermostat turned up causing the fan to come on is good in that we have power and that the fan and thermostat are working. When the fan comes on, one of the proving switches is connected to...

    Heater not heating

The igniters on these are spark gap electrodes similar in function to a gas engine spark plug in operation. I doubt it is the problem. These units have a bad track record of board problems with broken solder joints. There are also several safety switches that any one of will prevent the unit...

    Rheem Raypak igniter failure.

On the board, there will be a black circular object about 1/25" dia and about the same height. This will have a heavy wire coming from the top of it. This is the spark coil that sends the high voltage spark down the wire to the igniter. Check the back side of the board to see if one of the...

    Pool bonding, Grounding

Power surges thru the electrical system can take out boards. We see this all the time around here in the late fall when people fire up their furnaces for the first time. I am expecting at least 10-12 calls this fall for non working furnace due to a bad board and I am willing to bet at least half...

    H150 Will not ignite

Jumpering the gas valve indicates that there is trouble in the safety circuit. (this is why they wanted you to unhook the jumper after the test). The safety circuit is nothing more than a daisy chain of wires and switches. Each switch (sensor) is 2 potential resistance connections that may be...

    Gfci breaker keeps tripping

You need an electrician with a working knowledge of wiring sub-panels as I see several code violations in there. I agree with the others on seeing what looks like a compromised insulation on a couple of wires. Also Not sure what the Drywall screw is doing in there but it cant be good in the...

Couple of things... How much voltage it the generator/power pile putting out? When you stated... I removed the wires on the valve for the safety did you remove all of them? If so jumping the terminals doesn't work that way. You need to have the power pile wires connected to do this. No user...

    Circuit Breaker Replacement Recommendation

Per the NFPA, GA is currently on the 2017 NEC code cycle which is the latest code cycle (the next update is due out in 2020) This does not mean that everyone has to bring their pools into 2017 compliance. Your pool is covered by the code cycle when it was built, which in this case may have been...

2003 Sundance Optima blower motor voltage at board

We will need to know what we are working on to help. Brand, Model and what it is. Based on the limited info so far I am guessing some sort of heater. Dan Edit...I see the info in the title now...my bad. Hot tub, correct? It looks like the board should be putting 240 out on that line but you...

raypak 266 Milivolt NG won't fire

Use an OHM meter to check the switch for resistance instead of firing the parts cannon. It should read 0 ohms. Power piles do go bad over time and loose their ability to output power. Also they can be cleaned if they are dirty which will cause a low power output.

    Bonding issue

It is hard to tell...but in that picture it looks like the blue tapcon screw is bonding the neutral bar to the box (screw behind the incoming neutral) It may just be the angle at which the picture is taken. Easiest way to tell is to check continuity between the box and neutral bar

GFI For Amp Power Exterior Speakers

The only component of a speaker system that would need to be bonded would be the box/case/shell/etc if it were made of a conductive material and withing the NEC's described distances from the water.
