To add, maybe the 12.5% isn't really 12.5% anymore...I added 2.5 gallons at 1 time last night, and I didn't see much change in FC 1 hour later...this was prior to trying kimkats suggestion of adding to get to 5ppm and checking 15 min later.
How old was the stuff you put in before my 15 min test? Chlorine degrades over time and when stored in hot areas.
You should be testing THEN adding how much Pool Math tells you to add to get to your SLAM goal. Here is a link to our Pool Math App: PoolMath - Trouble Free Pool Or you can go to the bottom of the page to use the web based one.

I had the same arm problem last year brushing away but in the end it was crystal clear. The advice is on point here just keep it up. I bought this brush last year and all I can say is wow. A nice invention that actually takes the chore out of brushing.I almost brushed my arms off last night![]()
Thanks for the quick reply. I was starting to get a little nervous! I checked and my FC was down to 8 this morning so I added more LC before leaving for work.I have an idea what happened. That reading of 3.5cc, that mess on top of the water and you not being able to hold FC in the beginning is showing there was a LOT going on with your water. We have seen where some water "turns" for some unknown reason and develops ammonia in the water. It "eats" all of the CYA and chlorine. You beat it out of the water with your high doses of chlorine. Now you have to do everything you can to keep the FC up so you can get rid of the CC. It is going to be quite a battle but you are already getting ahead of it now!

Your filter is working over time so yes it is normal and good! That means it is doing it's job!
IF the chlorine is stored in a cool, dark place it might still be full strength at 6 months but we try for no older than 3 months if possible for chlorine. Heat and sun degrades it fast.
Look for 316/316L stainless steel bolts & nuts. It is a higher grade SS and less susceptible to corrosion than the typical 304SS.What type of bolt/nut should I look for that will be in the water, stainless?
There is an article in PoolSchool on removing rust stains. Use Vitamin C tablets, crushed up in a sock/hose and let that sit on the stain or rub it on the stain.Any advice/way to help get rid of rust stains on the sides of the ladder?
Ended up getting 16 gallons of 10%. Plus still have 4 more for the so called “12.5%” at home. I’m ready to crush this thing. Homie ain’t playing no more games ??????Now that is a cart ready to do battle with the green monster!!!! ?
