Lightmaster, the pool bleach at Walmart is near the garden center in the pool aisles. They don’t stock it there year round though. I’m in Texas but I am new here, so I don’t know when exactly “pool season” begins at Walmart.

I'm no expert, but I would call that pH at 7.3 And I call it "red" when there is no hint of lavender in it. So, your third one. We use the same stirring bar. We just rinse it well. (How cool is that magnetic stirrer? I love it. )

I love that he cleans those gross bugs out for me. I will run lights more to make sure he/she always has plenty. I love raccoons. As long as they're not damaging my property they are adorable. I'm really thankful it wasn't a snake

I was in about third grade and loved to skim our neighbors' pool and empty the skimmer baskets. A dead possum taught me to look before reaching in. 40 years later, I finally have my own pool and still remember grabbing that possum every dingdang time I open a skimmer cover.

I can not believe I didn't reply to you two. I know I read the comments... I flaked. We did take your advice and just left the pool open all winter. Easy peasy to maintain, and we ran the heater (which wasn't even supposed to work according to the previous owner - BONUS) during warm weather...
