    R-0004 and R-0014

I ran out of R-0004 and I asked the guy at the pool place for the replacement and I didn't think to look till I got home and saw that it was R-0014. I tried using it but the color was all wrong. It was a pale pink. I added Acid Demand and it turned pale yellow. Is there a color scale to...

    CYA question

Pool school used to have a wonderful pool math on the website that would calculate how much water to take out to lower CYA. Now, I use the app. It is nice but it just advises to let a little water out. Can you tell me how to calculate how much water to take out?

    Pentair Dynamo 1.5 HP motor

I don't know, I deal with the chemicals, hubs deals with equipment. Will ask him when he gets home. Ty for your quick reply, I figure it would take a couple of days. :)

    Pentair Dynamo 1.5 HP motor

I think it is dying. We turned it on this morning and it sounds awful. Is there anything I can check? I've gone to Pentair website for a trouble shooter and they aren't much help.

Thanks, will do another few days of SLAM and see what happens.

Cloudy I guess I have to wait.

FC 5 pH 7.6 TA 110 CH 80 CYA 30 Still cloudy. If I wait a few days, I can see a bit of difference. We add about a cup of DE to the sand filter and then flush a few hours later to try to help it along. Is there anything else that I can do? If I get IN the pool I can see my foot on the bottom of...

    Idiot alert..Harvey related

Thanks y'all. Actually I did a reading today. We overflowed for a couple of days. Funniest thing in the world my CYA is 35, my PH was 7.6, my bleach(which we added 2 gallons before things got bad) was at 2.5 so I consider it a win win. PS yesterday was rainy and nasty and today you can't even...

    Idiot alert..Harvey related

We put a cover over our pool with a couple of pillows thinking we could keep the debris out. We were only supposed to get at most 20 inches. We got that last night. Our total is right at 50inches since Friday. Our cover is a woven looking one so we thought it would just get the water and not the...

Numbers look good but the pool has a slight green cast to it

I tested it about 30mn before I posted. I have bought the individual chemicals as well as using parts of the HTC test kit. (I use a FAS DPD kit as well) I bought in bulk so I could try to save money in the long run while SLAMing when I opened my pool. City Water Near BMT. I put 3 tabs in last...

Numbers look good but the pool has a slight green cast to it

FC 6 PH 7.6 CYA 35-40 TA 50 CH 60 We have had kids swimming as well as a few storms. I haven't had to add chlorine in a while. It has a very slight green cast to it. Like it has turned from turquoise to a very pale teal or aqua. Have y'all had this? Oh the DPD is 0

    A noobies observation about Slamming

Well, the FC,CC test was looking good. So when the numbers go wonky I think algae automatically. Sorry! No copper products, actually, our city water has a lot of iron so we tie some socks to our hose.

    SLAM with persistent algae

How long have you been doing it? I did mine for well over a month.

    A noobies observation about Slamming

Well, I thought I was done with the SLAM process. I went out of town and my kids swam in it and even though the test is clear for algae, it has a green cast and isn't clear so I am SLAMing it for a few days with the filter running non stop.

Added DE to sand filter, wow

Our pool was a little cloudy, we didn't think much of it.(after you resurrected it from the dead aka swamp or algae) it is no big thing. We were picking up some more bleach when a guy was mentioning how much he loved his DE filter and how well it worked. Our sand filter is a year old, we can't...
