Pool Build - Baltimore

I would probably open around April 15th but I'm traveling so it will likely be 4/30 or the next weekend. Not to swim since we don't heat actively, but to look at, make sure all is in working order and to introduce our 6 month old puppy to the water. Not sure I'm excited about him swimming since he will shed a lot, but hair nets have been procured and life's too short to not let your dog be happy!

My boxer decided he loves to swim. We let him. He's so active that he just can't stay on the deck. He gets out of the pool, jumps off the deck, runs through the mud n dirt n then back into the pool. LOL I just let him go.

I don't swim til June. Hubby uses the pool more than I do. I just love looking at it in early season. I use it most on very hot days. I'm ready for summer.

After all, that's what filters and vacuums are for right?

My previous post had a bit of foreshadowing in it. Today our 8 year old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, had surgery to biopsy his organs and lymph nodes. We've been going down the road of determining why he can't keep food down now. Doc said his stomach has numerous areas of thickness in the lining all around. And that it is "most probably" cancerous, we'll find out next week for sure. There was no option to remove part of the stomach because it was too widespread. So not a good day here but also not so unexpected news. He has lost 15 pounds since October, down from 60 or so.

Hopefully he can come home tomorrow to begin healing from that surgery and we go from there. We'll see if the 6 month old puppy lets him rest or if we have to restrain him.

Tomorrow we are taking the pup down to the reservoir to see if he wants to swim.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Puppy had fun and did go in the water some but not swimming yet. Picked up the patient and brought him home. The cone is SO disconcerting to him. He will not move with it on. At all. Which isn't too bad because it keeps him laying in one place to recover. And he's in our puppy play pen, ironically, to keep the puppy from playing with him. 1 1/2 weeks with the cone. Hope to hear by mid next week but not expecting good news. Lots of pills to get in him for now.

Thanks for those ideas Kim. We'll consider them. If it relates to landscaping I'll have those alternate ideas. Dogs, not so much. First dog for me.

Here's a pic of Big Brother on the right and Young Buck on the left. They blend in easily with the floor and are easy to miss.

We are mowing grass here now but clearly not close to swimming yet.

Awe I'm so,sore to hear of your baby. Hope he gets well soon. My female boxer could never wear a cone. She became a raging bull with it on.

Thanks Indigo. Color wise I might have gone with a more vibrant bluish tile in a do-over. But we are quite pleased. When I saw the surface finish/water color of Bobinbaltimore's pool I new that's what I wanted and DW liked it too. You should look at his. I can't remember what his surface was now.

Got word today that the elder doggy has stomach cancer and there's no treatment option worthwhile pursuing. So he gets to eat whatever he wants to/is interested in eating. He's currently dreaming with his eyes fluttering. So cute. Enjoying our time with him now.

Thanks to all for the well wishes for us and our pal. Truly appreciated.
