First Ever Pool - Above ground bestway 4.2m slice of heaven

I love the idea of Texas... Its so huge.... And the romance of the four seasons of Pennsylvania would be awesome too..... I plan to see the states before I die, we're hitting the theme parks when my youngest is ten, so about 4 years.... :) Its a pretty beautiful country you've got there.... :)

Ahhhh ... Lacey, I would love to visit Aussie! To go diving on the great barrier reef is a dream of mine ... I will go one day!! ... I love NC ... can be at the beach or the mountains in 3 hours ... just have to toss a coin to go east or west! But, I've visited lots of places too ... New England is beautiful in the summer!

I took my eldest son (7yrs old at the time), snorkelling on the great barrier reef just off Cairns in Far North Queensland.... It really is beautiful.... Australia should be on everyone's bucket list.... As America should be too.... Just really gorgeous country... If I ever get really rich I will spend my life travelling....

Ive had the fortunate opportunity to make a few trips to Australia over the years related to my work. Been to Perth, Geraldton, Darwin and Alice Springs. I enjoyed the visits I had there.

Hubby wants to travel the states when he retires! It's something we always talk about!

Really Dave? I got married in Broome in Western Australia.... :) I've got relatives in Perth, but I've never seen the top end.... Just waiting for the kids to get older to see Alice Springs and Ayres rock, and Darwin... I had relatives working at the Naval base in Darwin... :)

He wants to get a new Harley and go on a very long road trip. :D

That's the best way to see it... :)

I had a meeting at my sons special school two days ago... He's improving drastically, faster than we had anticipated, but we still have areas that we need to work on, like taking him anywhere is a real issue... His teachers and therapists suggested that instead of taking him out of his comfort zone, we should try to set up the house so we can holiday at home.... Its important that Dave and I have a place we can go to de-stress.... Something we can use year round.... Its kind of what we were planning all along, but now I can start to plan our "respite area" or adult relaxation zone....

I plan to put a long spa right underneath the master bedroom window. I've got about 1.8m width, and 4 metres length of space, so I don't invade the walkway around my house....I will build a little outdoor bbq area out there as well.... Something I can take with me when I move, so now I'm looking at stainless steel benches and an outdoor fridge.... :) The spa will be an awesome addition as it won't be as seasonal as the pool... :) Samson will get benefit from the spa relaxing his muscles and help put him to sleep at night... I'm also planning to put some fruit trees in large pots around the pool area :) That will be done for next summer... I've had to veto the slide plan as I cannot trust Samson with heights.... :-( Not until he's older....

So bottom line is..... I GET TO PLAN MORE STUFF....:):):)

Just cooked the most delicious meal, corned silverside with garlic mash potatoes, baby carrots, grilled asparagus and spring onion and wholegrain mustard white sauce.... :) Good grief it was good... Perfect for a cold evening here... :)

Yeah it is. I miss our bike... it took me awhile to tell him that. I don't wish to see the negatives of owning one though. That was tough! :taped:

Respite areas are GOOD! Very very good!

Yummmmmmmmmmmmm I would love to help you eat that!

I live in Florida about 5 hours from Micky Mouse! It is NOT cheap! Save up your pennies! You are going to need them.

Kim

Thanks Kim, I reckon it will take me about 4 years to save what I need... lol.... I want to stay onsite also, so yeah I can imagine its going to hurt the wallet... I'll just be happy to get Samson on a plane for that long.... Sydney to LA longest flight in the world then another long flight over to Florida after we've seen that side....

Second Ever Pool - Slow Build AG Intex 18 x 9 Ultra Frame with upgrades

Just changed the title of my thread.... The bestway pool has been gone for months....

I'd like to thank everyone who is tagging along with my build... This is more of a blog than a build....

I'm still waiting on parts for my suction fittings, they're coming from Perth Western Australia, but they're taking forever.... I will post detailed pictures when I cut the liner and replace the fittings... I know there are always questions about it, so I'll add it to my thread, and probably post a new thread in Above Ground Pool that will be short and concise, showing the process of cutting the liner....

Test Kits.......

Well I'm a little happier now... I've just created an account with myus.com. I've been really bummed about not being able to received a TF-100xl test kit and magnetic stirrer, due to living in Australia, so I created an account that will ship one from the US for me.

I really want the best test kit available, and every other member has one, so now I can get one no problems... I would highly recommend other Aussies on here do the same thing... :) Taylor kits are good, but you can't be sure of the batch dates, so I feel a little better buying the recommended kit....

Congrats on being able to get the TF100. The speed stir is pretty cool. I use it every time I check my water. Since adding borates my chlorine usage has been very minimal! It seems my pool is using about 1ppm every 2 days instead of 2ppm a day in this early season. I was watching it last week after I added the borates and I hovered at 5ppm it seemed for almost 3 days in full sun with a zero bather load. Water is still cold though. I'd like to see how it fairs this summer compared to last. Like I said, I lose anywhere from 2-4ppm a day without borates in the full swing of summer.

I was running at 50ppm CYA last year and this year, I tested to find I am at 40ppm CYA and I am chlorinating at 6ppm and let it drift to 4ppm and I bring it back up. Depending on how things work with the Borates and the 40ppm CYA and full sun, I'll assess the pool as things pop up. I don't anticipate any issues with my current set up and 12 hours of sun an day.

We don't get a lot of pool guest but the pool was used every day last year that we had it since Hubby was using it for therapy. He looked like a pool fixture which I didn't care. He said he didn't want it but he's in it an awful lot to NOT want it! He can't wait til it gets warmer. It's still chilly over here with day time temps in the 60's!

The nuts and rubber washers showed up this morning! Now I have all the parts I need to upgrade the pool! I just need to find a PVC reducing elbow 90 degrees from 50mm to 40mm and I will be happy!
