First Ever Pool - Above ground bestway 4.2m slice of heaven

I love Rottweilers. I have a female named Boo and my male (Zachary) passed away back in 09. They are such good dogs!

Best dogs ever Casey.... :) Gus was my first "child" and he died of a Leukaemia like disease when he was 8... That was nearly 12 years ago, I haven't had the heart to get another one, he was irreplaceable.... :-( But my next dog will definitely be another Rottweiler, they have the best nature.... :) Give Boo a hug for me... :) Sorry to hear about the loss of Zachary.... :-(

Maybe not for the coming summer but the summer after that I want one of these on a platform for the pool! I will rig up a water hose for it! It will start in my designated spa area!

Might be thinking a little big but it's fun to do the impossible!

It will need to be 1.5 metres off the ground (pool height), so the platform will be about 1.5m. up and the same in length maybe a little less... It will just fit.....And a little ladder up to the top of the slide with a platform.... I'm going to use concrete feet that will hold 4x4 supports and just build from there...

This is basically what my pool and grass will look like! Borrowed from another TFP er!

I don't know what I am going to put underneath the legs yet! Still deciding!

I am also doing this to the plumbing to get rid of the plunger valves!

Many thanks to Barlidge for his idea's on how to do stuff.... :)

Sorry to hear about your cat.. I lost one of mine back in September...my black cat Stormy.. Did it finally stop raining over there?? Love the pics and the ideas..good inspiration.. :D

Hi TsiGirl... Thank you for your condolences for my cat.... She was lovely....

Its been raining on and off here for the past couple of weeks, but I've just gone outside and measured the yard for a timber frame to set off the turf and to hold the existing pavers in place... My blue metal dust gets delivered not this Tuesday due to easter but next Tuesday weather permitting... Turf will be another fortnight after that.... I feel like I should be hurrying, but the truth is, its starting to get bitterly cold here and its hard to keep envisaging the pool in this weather...lol... Grass I definitely need, but again, I'm not busting a gut to get it done... :) The vet bills have definitely set us back a few weeks.... But Cleo was worth it...

Will post pics again, when I've done the framing.... :)

I need 20 metres of timber and 2 metres of dowel... :)

Well its Easter Saturday here in Australia and I've just gone to the supermarket to get a lovely roast lamb for Easter Lunch tomorrow, have some family coming to join us..... I love a Roast dinner.... I'm also addicted to stuffed green chilli, garlic and tequila olives.... So moreish.... :) Hope everyone is enjoying themselves... :)

Finally found the hose I need for my pool :) Its exactly what I need and less than half the price of the pvc hose I originally wanted, and this one is actually better suited to my pool... The fabulous thing is, its the same colour as the outside of my liner, so it will be somewhat camouflaged... :)

$87.00 for 20 metres is pretty awesome... I've paid more than that per metre for crappy plastic pool hose......

Its slowly coming together... The only thing I'm having an issue with is finding pvc elbows that are also 50mm - 40mm reducers... I only need three. These are to replace the plunger valves and make the hoses and everything hang correctly.... I've been online looking for them for hours, sadly most I've found are in the US and do not ship here....

I've found some pretty cool hose connectors.... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181209296879?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

This is just a list for me, stuff I need to buy....

Front Yard.................
Blue Metal Dust x 3m
Timber x 20m
4m timber dowel
6.5m x 7m artificial turf
2 litres turf adhesive
25m turf joining tape
75 artificial turf pins
2 Hammers

Pool Upgrade..............
20m x 40mm flexi hose
3 x 50mm - 40mm pvc reducers
3 pvc elbows 40mm
Hayward DynaSkimmer
10 x 40mm hose clips
4 x 40mm pvc ball valves
New Pool ladder
Hayward Filter & Pump
Taylor K-2006 test kit
5 kilo's Boric Acid
Peristaltic Pump
Scalpel to cut liner
Silicone (just in case)

Solar Heater...............................
1 km 13mm black polytube
5 x wood panels (big enough to hold 200m of spiralled polytube)
500 - 1000 x 3mm black cable ties
20 x 1 inch squared timber (same size as wood panels to act as frame)
5 x 3mm plexiglass (to fit panels)
15 brass hinges for plexiglass
2m x 32mm pvc pipe with 5 reducers to 13mm and connectors
48 stainless steel screws
Bungee cord to suspend panels..

This will be pretty much the order I need to do things as well, so it makes it a nice easy reference when I hit the hardware stores... :)

Hi Divin Dave :) Yup I'm a planner, I find the planning just as exciting as the execution....lol.... I've built this pool and solar heater and turfed my front yard so many times in my head..... :) Happy Easter to you too....

Its 3 degrees Celsius here at the moment, so bloody cold.... This keeps me looking forward to summer as I think its going to be a cold, cold winter in my part of the world....

Note to self about temperatures and opening and closing my pool..... Close the pool when the water gets down to 15 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit) and open it again in summer at around the same temps... I will have my solar by then, so I can open it a little early this year, maybe in mid October...

Righto, I've been doing the math dollars wise, for my home made solar collectors and it was looking pretty expensive.... Something we're trying to avoid here.... So after looking around for about 48 hours, I think I've found my solution... And I don't have to do any of the math, its all been done for me... I've already got the pump for it, so this looks to be the way to go.... These are very efficient and I think it will work... It is rated for a 21000 litre pool and mine is, at 95% full about 18000 litres... I have to have a pretty full pool due to the thru the wall skimmer and where I plan to place it....

Here is the solar system..... At less than half the price I can build something for, and it will be less visible this way..... :) And its free postage... BONUS...

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/11M2-ROO...3304?pt=AU_Pool_Spa_Beach&hash=item337879d888

So I need to scrap the list for the solar heater, and I've saved myself about 2 weeks work also... :)

I've decided to veto the home made liquidator and go with a Stenner Peristaltic pump and a digital timer..... 3GPD should be all I need....

I went with the high pressure fixed rate.... I hope that's right... I've been doing a lot of reading today.....

Because my pool is portable, I have decided to get the Stenner tank to go with it, this way I have somewhere to mount the pump without having to make a structural change to my pool area... It can just sit in my outdoor box with the solar pump and my filter... :)

Well my strainers showed up today! WITHOUT rubber o rings or NUTS! I managed to find two of each so they should be here next week! Intex really knows how to make money from accessories! It was only $10 delivered!

Here is a pic of my peristaltic pump! How cool is it? And I only have to run it for about an hour and a half a day but that will be determined more accurately when the pool is being used! It's all coming together!

Well things have slowed to a crawl here... I really need to get the grass finished but it all comes down to cash.... :-( The bills have been coming in, so its making it difficult to save, I guess I'm just frustrated... :-( I envisaged having this done way before this, and its not like I'm relying on contractors because I'm it..... I can't plan anymore, as its all done....I'm also a bit bummed about not being able to add borates to my pool, since my autistic son likes to drink the pool water.... I really wanted to try them.... But its about his safety first....... Game Of Thrones has been awesome though.....
