Goodyear, AZ (EMR) O/B Pool Deliberations - UPDATE - Pool is Filled!

Dang it that's STILL confusing. OK say it with me.

TF-100
Pro
Salt

(y)

Sorry. I'm still confused. I didn't see a TF-100 Pro, just TF-Pro (with Salt) on their website.

Maybe they changed the nomenclature (like small differences between smart-stir and speed stir)?

Is this the one? It has the nice case.

It's interesting how much a design can change once you start actually building a pool.

So, today, our rock guy came out to start the cage for our grotto and slide (and will also do our accent rocks around the pool). Based on his recommendation and our space between the property lines, we will now be changing the direction our slide will be going. Additional footers will need to be poured for it, but he said the angles will work out better and aesthetically, it will be more pleasing. Now, not sure what to do with the space that was going to be walkway though (I have one idea) and we will need to get rid of the plants at the dep end of the pool...

Can you print out what you have and draw what he suggested? It is SO nice when someone who has done this kind of thing shares their input and ideas!
His expertise is definitely appreciated, even if I don't like unanticipated changes! :p
I'll do my best to convey my thoughts.

This is the as designed plan:

His idea was to switch the slide direction and stairs entrance:

And this was my idea right now on how I should change the travertine decking (still open to ideas):

Hope the changes make sense. We still want some plants around it and the change stops that possibility at the deep end We're still up against some setback constraints, but I'll show on the progress photos how we'll be going out past the current footer that can't be done with the original direction.

I see why he suggested the change. (I don't like changes either so try to see the why.) The sliders come out of the slide and can head right over to the bench or the shallow are to get out and do it again! It does have a better flow to it.

Decking-I like what you added. I would see if you can keep the "path" on the left side at all as people will walk/run there to get to the slide faster so might as well have a walk way there.

I definitely do not like change, but always try to be open to expert opinions (otherwise, I would never learn anything  ). We're going through with the suggestion, just trying to work through the other changes that will need to be made because of it and looking to the design experts here for suggestions as well.

He was think more that the swimmers would shoot out closer to the deep end bench (my drawing has them shooting out towards the shallow end, but it will really be shooting out straight across) which puts them right at the stairs (stairs moved to the right side of the grotto, opposite the slide). He also thought it would be a safety issue as we currently had it as the sliders swim path to exit would be right in the jumping spot if someone jumped off of the grotto...

If I wanted to keep the pathway around the backend, I would have to put decking all around the back of the grotto also to reach the stairs.

Hope that makes sense.

So, it's been a bit of a tough week outside of the pool build. Grotto steel inspection passed on Wednesday, so my permit has been extended another 180 days. Yay.

I had setup a security camera right before the shotcrete and set it up to take time lapse photos (made a nice little time lapse of the shotcrete installation). Unfortunately, I messed up on the storage settings, so the photos of the first day of the grotto build were overwritten . I fixed it so it won't happen again, and was able to save the second day of the build, but that wasn't even the toughest part of my week.

Here are the photos with just the cage. They are working on it now, so I'll update later on as well.

Grotto Microbrite change. The original plan was to have the Microbrite shining out from the ledge into the pool, and after speaking with the electrician, he mentioned I probably would not get the effect I was looking for. He recommended shining it up from the bench as the light would then light up the waterfall from behind.

Not pictured, Microbrite in shallow end (so 4 total) and heat pump.
For your microbrite light, is your electrician providing the female end adaptor or were you able to find one yourself? I am doing a black onyx pebble so I need to find a black ring but have no idea where to look. Honestly, the whole idea that the light just goes directly into the 1.5" pvc pipe is still hard for me to wrap my head around.

Hello George,

My electrician is providing them. I googled black pool fittings and a couple of different sites pop up. I found a hayward black pool fitting, but I would not know what you would need exactly.
