Spring Conversion Baquacil to Chlorine

You guys are too funny! I’m glad you enjoy helping others. I’m amazed at the available info on this site. I know I’m not finished and still have things to do but I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for all of the help and support. I’m not sure that I would have taken on this project without your encouragement and help a long the way. The difference in my pool is crazy. WOW! The looks of it when a low power LED lights up the far end of the pool shows the clarity of the water!
Many thanks on this one! (y)

We love helping. What I love, more than anything, is the sense of accomplishment and control/mastery/knowledge (???) that individuals feel after they get their pool under control. Congrats! (And, I loved the string of LC bottles...kinda like spoils of battle).

The transformation has been amazing! I‘m a hands on DIY guy and like to know that I can fix most when the time comes. By doing this with you guys for guidance gives new pool owners the confidence they need to really take care of their pool without having to depend on someone else. To me, my pool is not a burden, it is therapy . No matter what has happened for the day, when I go out to the pool to clean a little or just listen to the water run, most other thoughts are long gone.

Thank you

Ok , more great news besides my water looks AMAZING, have I told you that? :laughblue:
My CC has been a big fat 0 over night and still at CC0! Fingers crossed, this pool is getting close to being a TFP pool! CYA is being dispersed into skimmer via sock method as we speak so that should be good soon. Will continue to measure and maintain FC, CC and hope for results similar to the rest of this transformation.

Protip : 'target range' is designed to have 1+ full days normal FC loss to remain above minimum by the time you test tomorrow. It is assuming a watchful eye.

Minimum sounds ok, but is not ok at all. It's a 'be thankful you caught it just in time' kind of ok, not a 'Meh, my FC is ok' kind of ok. (y)

Cloudy still and 74 F , pool temp up to 61 F and my CYA is up now to 32 ish , FC @ 10 and CC @ 0 !

No worries on checking or monitoring anything else at this point (PH)?

We have a lot of rain in the forecast for our future, anything special to do at this point of my process to try and stay ahead of the game?

I was just here for the pics and saw that you never knew what clear was... you now have sparkly-pool-itis. Enjoy your brand new "TFP" pool. You'll never go back to anything else let alone go to a pool store for chemicals. The only time I buy from a pool store is for maintenance parts and or toys.

Thank you, It’s a good feeling to see the sparkly at end of the rainbow! I am and my boys especially are ready to swim.

Good news for the morning, another night of good numbers, FC14.5 and CC0!!!!!! :hammer:

I checked for salt content in my pool just for grins because of the articles that I have read on TFP. My salt level is 1100 ppm!

For every 1 ppm of chlorine you add to the pool, you get 0.8 ppm of salt directly from the liquid (or granules, if Cal-Hypo) you add and then another 0.8 ppm of salt from the chlorine when it gets used up (broken down by sunlight, oxidizes an organic, etc). So for every 1 ppm FC, you get 1.6 ppm salt. This rule applies to all hypochlorite sources of chlorine (sodium hypochlorite which is bleach or chlorinating liquid, calcium hypochlorite or Cal-Hypo, and lithium hypochlorite). Trichlor and Dichlor do not have the extra salt -- only the amount from the chlorine itself so 0.8 ppm salt for every 1 ppm FC.

This is very cool! Will be already prepped to install my SWG.

CYA rounds up. Save yourself the trouble and only fill to the 10s.

Other than that,
I did check again and CYA is 30 or just shy for black indicator dot to completely disappear. Should I add CYA to bring level up just a touch or just leave it alone for now? Looks like 45 is target but should be safe to add another 16 to 18 oz to settle in to 40ish.

Kim,
Your my hero, cheerleader, and maybe my only fan :) !

Newdude,
It’s a phillips head, can’t you see? Give me a break, it’s been raining all day, hard to get a good updated photo! :snorkle:
The only reason I have a updated one is because I knew you would be calling me out.
