New pool (first time) build in DFW (Current Phase: POOL COMPLETED!!)

Sorry I know this is an old post but just wanted to mention something about the lifetime warranties. They are almost all to the original owner only. Just went through this on our house we just sold in the same area and confirmed it with the pool builders we got bids from for our new pool that this is standard practice in our area at least. Just an FYI because all I had remembered from when we purchased the pool was a lifetime warranty and I was glad I checked with our PB before telling the buyer it was covered.

Yes correct, our PB stated very clearly the lifetime warranty is only for the original owner.

Permits have been approved by County and the city. We are now waiting for excavation date to be scheduled. Right now PB is sayin 17-18 weeks so that puts us in late January-February 2022. ... The wait continues....

Update from PD. Excavation is scheduled for the week of December 13th! (Weather and other factors permitting) much quicker than the 18 weeks they were quoting!

Plumbing and equipment went in today. PB runs everything under to pool and uses heat bending to reduce 90 degree angles. They say heat bending makes the pumps more efficient, and running pipes under to pool protects them. What are everyone's thoughts on this? I see most threads on here the plumbing runs around the pool

Post a pic showing the whole equipment pad.

You don't want to know my opinion...

Thanks,

Jim R.
Thanks @Jimrahbe ... I did not ask for it they just put it in.. I guess if it is a POS looks like it could be easy to take off... below is a pick of the equipment pad

Joe, @joel98z

I had assumed that it was part of the main pool pump and filter plumbing, but it is not..

I now assume it is a pre-filter for water going to one or more of your water features. If that is true it makes more sense to have it.

Please tell me what the pump right below the pre-filter is going to run.

And, if you can, show a pic from the side showing pre-filter and associated plumbing.

I like the way your builder has individual valves going to most pipes.. As an example; your Skimmers and Main drain all have individual 2-way valves.. This is much better than trying to use 3-way valves for skimmer and main drain control..

Thanks,

Jim R.

River Bend? They have a good story on why they do that. Some have claimed heat bending weakens the pipe but when someone the size of that builder does it it must be working alright. I think burying the plumbing under the pool is probably as good a plan as any but makes any repair impossible without maybe demo work. But same is true under decking...
It certainly protects the piping from the workers on site when it is exposed in trenching that everyone uses to move around the pool...

FWIW, our builder mentioned to me that one of the more common plumbing problems they get with new build pools is plumbing pipes leaking due to getting damaged from workers on site. Most commonly getting damaged during decking. I'm not sure how much running everything under the pool realistically protects that or not since it really only removes the pipe going in the walls around the pool, which isn't really trenched/etc...but that could very well be their reason.

I'm interested how much difference heat bending makes when all the pipes around the equipment have 90s on them anyways...

Fewer 90s is still less resistance than lots of 90s. I can imagine there being lots of elbows on some jobs that not only add to the restriction, but add to the risk of a leak because that’s more glued joints.
The company I am thinking about has a demo wall filled with pipes - one with 90s and the other with radius bends. Each hooked to a pump showing wattage and gallons per minute. Shows less power for the one without the 90s. Makes sense given the head loss of 90s vs 45s... Hot Water Systems - Equivalent Length vs. Fittings Resistance

Yep, this is RiverBend... They did that exact demo went we went to initially talk with them. You could see with your own eyes the pump is using less electricity and flowing faster in the clear pipes they have... I just find it odd that it seems so much more efficient but every pool build I see on here the pipes are alwasy around the pool.

Does that 'demo wall' have filter, heater, etc in the loop? The head loss due to the piping is a fraction of that through a filter and heater.
