Posting builder quotes?

I didn't mean there was anything wrong with quartz scape in general...but they might have different levels...I am getting Wet Edge so I'm familiar with that and there was over a $10k price difference between the Wet Edge included in my proposal and the most expensive finish/color. I assume Quartz Scape works the same but I could be wrong.

@ajw22 Last year you mentioned you would get a Pentair Quad Cartridge DE filter. This pool builder is offering a pentair Clean & Clear Plus Cartridge 520. Thoughts on those two ? Looks like the DE filter is cheaper at 999 vs 1300?

Either filter will do just fine.

If you are comfortable handling DE and have a place to dispose of it the Quad DE filter is a good value.

I have a old school FNS DE Filter now so I am familiar with handling DE. Would I prefer not to deal with it like I am now, yes but this quad cartridge thing does look much much better.

@ajw22 I also have on my current pool the jandy aqualink rs4...which has actuators that turn when I want to run in spa mode. What pentair automation is the equivalent of that now these days? When I say automation now I think most PB just think of an app that you can turn on lights, turn off and on pumps and I guess can set pump timers on? But to run a spa the homeowner has to manually adjust valves?

The Pentair EasyTouch or IntelliCenter automatically switch the suction and return actuator between POOL and SPA modes. Get the PS (Pool/SPA) version.

I am not a robot guy. I think that robot is ok. What would an upgrade be to?
@ajw22 good question I am not sure, it just seemed like everything else he was quoting was one level low. I have never had a robot, I have always had a polaris 280 but I am not opposed to getting rid of the booster pump setup. Where the new pool would be has zero trees or leaves so really ought to be minimal to clean.

As far as the ichlor 30 vs the InteiiChlor IC40 , I thought the ichlor was the new and improved model? Its certainly slimmer looking vs the 40 being longer? Did the ichlor series turn out to not be improved or am I reading that wrong?

Call Margaret at Marina Pool & Spa in Lakewood, CO and see what she suggests and at what price. You can then decide if you want to take what the builder is offering or get a credit and buy it from from Margaret.

Nothing is improved about the iChlor over the Intellichlor. Pentair had to respond with a budget SWCG to Jandys Truclear system. The price is reduced and so is the quality. You get what you pay for.

4,

I have been very happy with my S200... For me it is the perfect robot.. It does not come with a caddy or any bells and whistles.. The S300 and S300i come with a caddy, remotes and blue tooth, etc.. something I find useless...

I have three pools and have three S200 style robots.. All three were purchased from Marina pool and Spa.. The first two were about $700 bucks each and the last one was about $725.. I think the price today is closer to $800. How much is your pool builder going to charge you for it???

I recommend the S200 to anyone buying a robot pool cleaner.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Depends what equipment you want to control with the ET. I have lost track.

You have a spa? No spa is listed in your signature.

@ajw22 Yes It will have a spa, heater, lights and water feature......everything but a booster pump if i go electric robot.

Right now with the Jandy RS4 I have a booster pump, a pool pump, a waterfall pump, a gas heater, and lights that can be controlled on top of temp, pump run schedules etc.

Interesting in talking to Margaret at Marina pools, she is trying to talk me out of a salt pool.
She sent me this link The Truth About Salt and is big on these frog products.

I am not interested but curious what the general thought is on all of that. First i have heard of that stuff.

If the Jandy RS4 meets your needs then the ET4 will be fine.

Margaret is good with pool cleaners. With other stuff she is like any pool store and pushes what she can sell you.

@ajw22 I figured but funny she started in on that. I read some history on that system on here and looks like snake oil.

Yeah I mean I dont know any better than the RS4 so maybe I dont know what I am missing? What would the next step up really provide me and is it worth the cost?

Something else she mentioned was with a sand filter vs a de or the cartridge was sand filter only had to be changed out every 7 years and it low maintenance. I know its the least down to the gnats Rear cleaner there is but is it that big of deal? I am going to live in an area with zero trees and leaves.....She mentioned than any cartridge cleaner whether its the de quad or the clean and clear the cartridges are really expensive. Figured it was worth the question.

The builder will let me order my own equipment so my thought was maybe she could save me some money. The robot was 799 free shipping and no tax so thinking maybe opportunity for more savings on other equipment.

4,

I have the Pentair CCP-520 cartridge filter.. I will never go back to DE or even a sand filter.

My filter is 7 years old and still has the original cartridges.. They seem to be working just fine.

Cartridge filters have dirt simple plumbing, low back pressure, and no multiport valve to go bad or leak. Obviously no DE to screw with.

A set of 4 new cartridge is about $200 bucks.. So, even changing them every five years is only $40 bucks a year. Does not sound too "Expensive" to me.

Thanks

Jim R.
