Decision made - finally - Nordic Encore LS (2020 model) - electrical question please

Yeah I prefer the Luxury line of options for a bit of piece of mind is all but with everything I have been reading we should be more than fine and the Nordic tubs appear well built and are a good product.

If I could find a luxury model at any other dealer within 3 hours for a not getting screwed over price I think we could prefer that.

At this point we are trying to see if there is any deal to be had on the Escape as that has a color scheme the wife likes. Not 100% certain I like the open bench seating but she does so again I guess I defer to her, lol.
So I went back to Nordic and watched the video, I kinda like that Escape Sport, more lights and stuff and if that whirlpool jet works like its supposed to, I like those.. supposed to turn the whole tub into like a whirlpool, almost bought one of those once and always regretted not getting it.

I assume this is directed at the others posting in this thread vs me, right? If this was local to me I would have to look at it pretty hard as its a good brand and model of tub based on what I have read and appears to be in decent shape.
It was directed at you. I've always wanted one & took a quick look after reading this thread. Just curious what you thought since you've been looking for awhile.

I like it seems like a good enough deal but you need more info. You need to kick the tires. Check for leaks, look for rust, look for rotting wood, look for issues. Make sure you see it running with all jets and features going and be sure to see it without as well. @RDspaguy would be a better judge than myself.

we like it as well and I have the dealer at 7k out the door no delivery though but their delivery is useless anyway as its a put in place and leave no hook up etc.

We may very well be making a deal on a 1 year old Nordic Encore LS though with all the extras - wifi, speakers, upgraded lighting, ozone etc for $5800. No warranty since it is not transferrable. It would be a 11 hour round trip but this seems like an amazing deal. Person has to sell as they are being moved out state for work. They will be buying a new Nordic once they get a house in the new state so they say.

As you ponder all the Mrs’s thoughts, have a looksie at the stark reality. Just sayin.

@GCS, the more this plays out I’m shifting to going big, and new. You’ve researched your eyes out. You’ve seen what’s available and agonized over every trade off. When you’re sitting in the big tub with 3 family members smoking hot and getting blasted with therapy jets……. In February……. You’ll know there was no other option to have all those options.

I think you’ll look back and know you did the best to compromise, and be glad that you didn’t.

Well decision has been made and deal has been struck.

We are getting a 2020 Nordic Encore LS with speakers, ozone, wifi control, upgraded lighting, cover, cover lift, steps, and chemicals.

Now to my question - according to Nordic it needs a 40amp 220 feed. Just so I understand what I need to have my guy do I will need to put a 40 amp breaker in my main panel run a 220 line from it to a breaker box out by the tub spot and then of course attach the wiring accordingly in the control box which as I understand is in the back left of the unit I think. This of course will need to GFCI protected with nothing else on it.

Is this correct?

That’s about it. The electrician will know the local codes but they’re mostly all the same. The emergency shutoff (outdoor breaker) needs to be 5-6 foot so it’s impossible to flip with a foot in the tub. Has to be line of sight within 50ft or so. They have a few choices for wiring, either conduit with individual wires or direct access buried but no jacketed wires (Romex, etc) in conduit for heat / overheating purposes.

Way to go on the decision !!!! Is it leftover or gently used ? Either way it’s plenty new enough.

1 year old. They got in aug last year. Husband got promoted and they are moving out state like across the us kind of move. They are selling the tub as the new home owners do not want it. Tub owners didn’t want to put it in storage haul it etc so decided to sell. I was told once they find a house in the new location they will buy a new Nordic tub as they loved this one

Electric wise I just wanted to make sure I understand things as well but yes the contractor will know the codes I’m sure. I’ll most likely just do conduit since it will be attached to the house and deck supports to make the run easy. I guess code will dictate where the cut off box should be ie mounted to house or mounted to deck down low on an outside support joist.

Sweet job finding it !!! Even if it was pricier I think you’ll be thrilled once you’re enjoying it.

I think being here is half the battle too, much less for 13 years like you’ve been. Many of the folks that give up using theirs is due to the struggle of maintaining it. When problems eventually arise you have an army of helpful folks to help you get through it too.

yep couldn't have ever done the pool without TPF - NEVER. Hot tub will probably be the same, lol.

FYI final price for the tub is $5400. Another $200 or so for the journey (gas, food, and beer for the help, correction might have to double the beer cost).

Working on arrangements to make the trip next weekend. Hitting up HD for some ratchet straps, 4x4 posts for the trailer, a tarp and some shrink wrap.

I already getting my electrical order ready for HD/Lowes etc and will also order a Taylor test kit.

I am assuming the first thing to do upon hook up is ahhsome it and get her clean
Oh yeah. Several rounds as if it's never been done, or not in a long time it may take 2 rounds just to loosen the crud. Then your washing machine and dishwasher cuz you'll have 3/4 of a jar left.

Also need to decide on bromine or chlorine
I did bromine and did not do well with it. I wasn't here yet, that probably would have helped ALOT.

Sounds good. Yeah I have no idea on the bro vs chlo plan. The current owner was very pro on the bro and was encouraging me to stick with it.
