Ugh. Valentines Day. Makes me want to barf....

Can we ban all Valentines dinner posts?? It’s one of my most-disliked manufactured “holidays”. Hallmark and the chocolate industry conspired to create it. I heard today that Americans will spend something like $8 billion dollars in the next 36 hours on Valentines Day ... ?

Can a chick join in to this boys club too? Oddly enough I came on to see if anyone used a RecTec grill.....but then saw the chicken cutlets mentioned.

I had just made some tonight myself! My breading station includes plain flour, then beaten eggs with a small splash of milk, finally in a mixture of seasoned(garlic powder, oregano, S&P) dry breadcrumbs with equal parts grated cheap Parmesan. Fried in olive oil. Yummy fast meal served with couscous and.salad dressed with EV olive oil/wine vinegar/S&P.

Back to the RecTec (made here in Augusta, GA)- what exactly *are* pellet grills? Can one use these pellets or charcoal interchangeably? The reason is while we have a large gas grill, with just me and Skippy home a small charcoal type grill will be a welcome addition. I miss the flavor and smells that charcoal provides but it just seems a lot of hassle for just a couple of burgers or a steak we share. I know they make small charcoal grills but not a small RecTec.

Any suggestions?

(oh yeah, the corn starch trick y'all recenly have discovered is common to Korean cooking. They often fry chicken in baking powder alone, or mixed with rice flour.)

Welcome to all chicks here, maybe us boys will learn something from you guys  Hummmm that did not sound right

@Brentr ask @JoyfulNoise how many times I have PM him asking about cooking stuff  LOL at least I am willing to ask even if it is in private!

Matt I agree with you about it being a "made up" holiday for money. That is why this cookie really surprised me!

Now everyone think about me today..............Kindergarten teacher with a room full of kids (21 if they are all here) on V-day and it is RAINING!!!!!

See, you’re looking at this all wrong. You should have promoted CBD infused chocolate flavored massage oils for Valentine’s Day. You could have pocketed some of that $8 billion, and bought yourself some REAL eggs!!
Oh well, there’s always next year.

I think you qualify for sainthood now ... let me check with the Pope....

We have two wonderful kinder teachers at my kids’ school who both do amazing things with the kids. They are the two most dedicated and loving educators I have ever had the privilege of knowing ...kinder teachers are a special kind of wonderful

Hey....check this out! I just saw this..... I can nosh while shopping! The one you show still looks kinda big to me. But I'm gonna take a look.

When you go to the RecTec function, ask around and find out if Jim and Jan Burg are there. Team name is Killer B's. Jim usually cooks at the RecTec functions. He's a KCBS cook. If you do find him tell him Julie Cook said hello. My husband and I are KCBS contest representatives and they cook a lot of our contests. We rep the Augusta contest on Memorial Day weekend. You'll have to come out and visit if you're in town that weekend. I'd love a chance to meet you.

The RecTec grill I posted does have a fairly large footprint, basically because of the hopper that you put the pellets in. It takes up just a little more room than my Big Green Egg. The charcoal grill I posted earlier is a lot smaller but charcoal is going to take a little longer to settle down to an acceptable temperature. The cost of the charcoal grill I posted is around $800.00. The RecTec was around $400 when I bought mine two years ago.

Papa Joe's Banjo-B-Que Music Fest! We will meet you there!

See? That's what i want to understand- so a pellet grill will heat up faster. What I hope to find is a small version tomorrow at the factory party. Scratch and Dent sale would make it ideal since they're a little pricey.

Lol. Even worse, We have waaaaaay too much going on at the moment so I was told to skip Valentines altogether. So I was in trouble either way. Darned if I did and darned if I didn’t. Whatttayagonnado?

Hey Maddie my neighbor just switch from a traeger pellet grill to the rec tec 700 and I can tell you that it is a great smoker. I have tasted the food he has cooked on it and it is outstanding. If I had to redo my outdoor set up I would definitely consider this. Hope this helps

Hey Matt just for you DW gave me this for VALENTINES haha  can’t wait to try it out this weekend

Definitely post up some pics. Is that one WiFi enabled? A lot of them now have all kinds of wireless control options.

I decided against sous vide cooking as it‘s not very efficient for big families like mine. I would need a huge water bath to cook the size meals I need (4 kids + 3 adults). However, if it were just me and my wife, it could be an efficient way to make a smaller meal.

This one is not WiFi however is is suppost to be very quiet. I would assume for large family like yours you would need to cook in your bath tub ?
