I didn't think that applied to their germicidal bleach. What is in that?

Product Ingredients

Water Water, also sometimes listed on product labels as aqua, is the most widely used of all solvents. It is a colorless, odorless and flavorless liquid and serves as the base of many cleaning products.

Sodium Hypochlorite Sodium hypochlorite is an essential ingredient in bleach and a variety of cleaning products, serving different functions depending on the concentration level and product formulation. For example, in Clorox's EPA-registered disinfecting and sanitizing products, sodium hypochlorite is the active ingredient that helps to kill certain germs. In laundry and cleaning products it can help clean, remove stains and whiten. In Liquid Plumr® products, it helps break down tough clogs.

Sodium Chloride Sodium chloride is also known as table salt and rock salt. It is commonly used in detergents, hand dish soaps, liquid laundry soaps and fabric softeners to thicken and stabilize formulas.

Sodium Carbonate Sodium carbonate, also known as washing soda and soda ash, is an alkalinity builder, which is added to laundry detergents to improve cleaning efficiency. It also helps remove alcohol and grease stains from clothing. Builders act like water softeners, to remove calcium, magnesium and other ions found in tap water, that can interfere with the cleaning process.

Sodium Chlorate Sodium chlorate is one of the substances that results from the natural break-down of sodium hypochlorite bleach. It further breaks down into sodium chloride (table salt) and oxygen.

Sodium Hydroxide Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda or lye, is used as a pH adjuster in cleaning products. As an alkali, it is useful in cleaning products for removing soils that are fatty, oily or acidic.

The only pool supply place close to me is Leslie's. I feel like I read somewhere, where their chemicals are not the best.
I buy liquid chlorine, muriatic acid, and reagents from Leslie’s and have never had any issues. It’s their magic potions & powders you want to stay away from.

So I bought out Walmarts supply of liquid chlorine. I bought 12 gallons. Hopefully it will get me through SLAM if not I will find it somewhere else and buy some more. I work so I will try to check water before work and then for sure after work.

Ace hardware should have 10% bleach and I know there is one of those in Belton. Lowes and Home Depot in Temple as well.

Ok, I am a little confused. I put 2 gal of liquid chlorine in last night, 2 more today and the the pool is still green. no change and chlorine levels are not up. Should I be adding more than once a day. The pool has been running 24 hours and back washed twice, brushed down yesterday and today. I also added 1 cup of DE as I read on SLAM instructions that it will help clear up faster.

What is Chlorox Germicidal bleach? Where do you even get it or is that just regular old chlorox bleach?

I have no idea where you can get the Germicidal Bleach. Regular old Clorox bleach labels say it contains Cloromax Technology. Those are polymers that create foaming and are not suitable for pool water. Most of the variants of Clorox bleach contain unwanted additives from what I see on the Clorox website.

The key to the SLAM Process is maintaining the SLAM FC level for as long as it takes to kill all the algae. That can be a week or more depending on the extent of the algae bloom and how often you can test and raise FC back up.

Ok just went out and tested again. I put the 2nd treatment in about 5 hours ago and now this is how my test reads. I work and leave the house at 5am and dont return until 6 at night so it can be hard to test more than once or twice a day. I do see that my ph went up since I started yesterday. We did receive some rain today. Do I put more liquid chlorine in tonight, tomorrow?

You cannot follow the SLAM Process with that test kit. Get one of the recommended test kits - TF-100 or K-2006C.

The pH test is invalid when your FC is over 10, which it needs to be during the SLAM Process.

I know about my test kit. I'm waiting for mine to come in

Your adding chlorine is just a holding action against the algae and is not likely to clear the pool until you do the complete SLAM Process step by step with no shortcuts.

Y'ALL!!!! My pool is clear!!!! This is even after a good amount of rain over night. Thank you all for helping me through my first SLAM. Now to figure out how to keep it like this without pucks and my auto chlorinator. One question. Anything special I need to do if we are forecast for storms with alot of rain? This last pic is what we started with last Sunday.
