Funny! We are thinking of aqua white also but without the Puerto Rico blend.
We are stuck with the pool gate...apparently it's the busiest season and gate is going to take three weeks!@@$$
Without gate I cant get the gate inspection to plaster the pool.

Nice @debuda !! Almost the same exact layout and design as my pool! What Pool Builder did you go with or owner builder? Are you at the plaster phase yet?

Any plaster can mottle. It all comes down to the crews skills, experience, care, etc.

It's an owner builder build. We are at the plaster phase but I need to put up a gate first and then get my gate inspection. So close!

Scheduled for Shotcrete tomorrow! also doing an owner builder. We're having a tough time choosing pebble plaster colors. Narrowed it down to either PebbleTec ClearWater Brilliance like @John_and_Val or Stonescapes "mini Aqua blue" or "mini Tropics blue" with touch of jewels and abalone. Concerned that the Aqua mini blue might be too light like a community pool
I'm having a tough time finding quality plaster companies that are certified PebbleTec applicators in my area. Most plaster companies that I've come across push hard on the Stonescapes. I've read that PebbleTec has better warranty if done by a certified plaster company. Any thoughts and suggestions?Thanks!

I would definitely try and book someone pretty soon because it's the busy season. From my experience they have about a month waiting list.
I think picking the color is so difficult. When you find a builder ask for pics and hopefully that will help.
Tips? What kind of tips? I will see what I can come up with that is not covered in the links above.

@chemillion Try looking up Stonescapes Tahoe Blue or Tropics Blue. If I remember correctly, those look pretty similar.

@debuda Hmmm... I will have to ask my PB about that inspection. Hopefully we don’t run into that issue. We are getting an automatic pool cover, so I don’t think we need a gate. I think there is an inspection for door alarms if they are opened from the garage or back door.
We went with the Aqua White Puerto Rico Blend purely by looking at all the samples and taking out the ones we didn’t want. Just so happened it was the Puerto Rico Blend. We wanted the smallest aggregate so it would be easier on the feet. And we did not want it too dark but hoping it’s still a nice bluish color. Keeping fingers crossed.

My inspector was strongly suggesting a pool gate but i dont think its needed to be up to code as long as you have the door alarms and pool water alarm. If your have the auto pool cover then I would imagine your covered (pun intended!)
We have 4 kids so we definitely are going to install a gate anyway. We have three doors leading to the backyard.
I don't want to wait any longer so I ordered the door alarms and making sure our gates leading to the backyard are all self closing and latching. I scheduled our inspection for this Monday.
If we pass and can get the plaster going and pool filled I am going to put up a makeshift gate until the real one gets installed. Just nervous having the pool without a real barrier.
Thought all the mini pebble had the same size aggregates. Some are larger than others?? We didnt even take a look at them in person yet!!

Hopefully your inspection passes! Our inspections are two weeks out from the time its scheduled. That put us behind at the beginning, but hopefully my PB takes that into consideration for the next round of inspections.
We will likely keep the pool covered whenever it is not in use. Just too simple to just push a button and the pool is closed. I assume that is good enough to not have a gate.
I want to say the mini pebbles are still slightly larger. I did not even know of the different aggregate names until after we selected our color and I researched it a little more about it online.

I like that color combination!

I think Aqua White is a little on the lighter side. If you like darker, maybe consider Aqua Blue, Tahoe Blue, or Tropics Blue. Not sure on the darker colors being warmer. It would make sense though.
We were between the aqua white and aqua blue...saw some pics that show the aqua white as darker but then as you were saying some pics show lighter.
I may reconsider. I like tropics but may be too dark especially at night. Want to be able to see the bottom of the pool. Other choice is aqua blue which seems to fall somewhere in the middle. Definitely need to see these in person.

The little samples are hard to tell how the true color will be on a large pool. I recommend that you get the samples wet when you look at them, which we failed to do. I think it would make a slight difference in the over all color when wet.

I have been so focused on getting the pool completed that I didn't spend too much time thinking about once pool is filled.
The plaster guy will have his guy come out to start up the pool. I assume hes going to be managing the chemical levels initially. Then it's up to me. Cleaning and brushing daily and making sure chemical levels are good. From what I understood I can't start the SWG for about a month and the same for an auto pool cleaner. That sound about right??
