When we added the first 3k I added 3 gal and filtered 24 hours so an additional 30PPM copy ??Great. Add 30 ppm CYA and SLAM Process. Pass the three criteria and maintain FC.
Use liquid chlorine/bleach. Sodium Hypochlorite. Strength does not matter, just how much you add. Cost / ounce of equivalent chlorine is all that matters.I know they are the same but chlorine is stronger. Thoughts?
Thank you ??Use liquid chlorine/bleach. Sodium Hypochlorite. Strength does not matter, just how much you add. Cost / ounce of equivalent chlorine is all that matters.
Ok chlorine is off the charts I had added 5 more Gallons to the water, tested now it’s at the SLAM level at 10. How do I test for the CYA? Or when you say CYA what do you mean?Great. Add 30 ppm CYA and SLAM Process. Pass the three criteria and maintain FC.
Thank you Kim love your emoji. It will take a while. The best thing you can do is keep the FC at SLAM level for your CYA with your filter running 24/7 for the most part. If you know you will have time to vacuum in the morning you can leave the pump off over night and see if any of the stuff will settle on the bottom so you can vacuum it up and out of the pool by vacuuming to waste.

I performed a slam because I had just added 8300k Gal of lake water in my pool on saturday. I’ve been Testing the chlorine and TA and The PH but I’ve been asked what was my CYA. I didn’t have a test kit for the CYA till this morning. when I use the pool math APP first thing it’s ask is what is my CYA when I test the chlorine in which I don’t know so I got a Blue Devil CYA test kit on Amazon. I tested as instructed and the results where 20 or Lower. Please rephrase our question. How exactly are you testing CYA? And why are you performing a SLAM?
In order to test properly for any type of SLAM or keep your pool balanced, a recommended test kit is a must. What I see here, assuming reagents and kit are good, is higher chlorine levels than 5 ppm, and nothing more. Your will need an extended kit to test properly, including combined chlorine.
The basic kit will just show the presence of chlorine in the water. You should be testing weekly to determine appropriate levels and make adjustments accordingly. Thank you.
Thank you AU ??If your CYA is 20ppm I would raise it to 30 by adding 11oz of stabiliser (CYA), wait a week and re test.
