New Build - Central California

Started a project yesterday... working in 100+ degree heat sucks.

The good news is I have a pool to fall into!!! Woot :)

Excellent wood work Ryan...love the plants as well with the rocks! What are the yellow/green ones called?

Love it! Random question. Did you need a deputy inspector when you had the saddles welded to the steel posts? Any special certification required during city inspection? Just comparing to our steel posts

We didn't need a special inspection for the saddles, but we had to have the engineering documents for the permit and had to use a specific type of saddle. Our inspector just looked at them and said, looks good. :)

We've dug 2 footings. Probably this week

Fun times. Our footings had to be 2ft square and 5ft deep I think. Those where unpleasant to dig :)

The good news is, if we get the "big quake" after I finish it, we can run under the porch cover and be sure it won't go anywhere... lol! The 50' of glass on the house may be a problem, but whatever :)

Jump in the pool if you have more to dig! It's scorching up here 103 today - not fun outside working weather. The pool was fantastic though!

We must have used the same loads ours are 5'2" deep and 18" wide. With 1/2" thick steel

Fun times, sounds very similar. Enjoy digging - it's those last couple feet with the post hole digger that just burned me out. My shovel was about as deep as the hole! It was like leg day at the gym, squats, squats and more squats :)

They eat up concrete too! I think we used 3.5 yards in our 6 holes, maybe more.

Good luck setting them, it was pretty easy once we got the hang of it. Hopefully that step by step comes in handy.
