Wrinkles on pool floor

We got our pool constructed 2 years back, so it’s a pretty new pool and we are new to all this pool maintenance thing as well. Everything was fine till now, except this spring when we opened our pool, our water level was way low – only about ½ to 1 feet of water on the shallow end - and our pool liner had wrinkles running edge to edge across the floor. The liner on the walls appeared to be bulged with air trapped in it. We called our pool company and they said there could be a leak in the pool. We did a water color test to find the leak but didn’t notice anything. We still have to get a professional to take a look at it.

Has anyone had similar problems? What else could be the cause of the wrinkles? We got a new winter cover this winter, could the drilling or installation have caused any damage? Or could the water level at closing itself been set low causing the cold temperatures of winter to pull the liner?

Any information is appreciated! Thanks!

With your water level that low you probably have a leak. The water in the pool holds the liner in place against the pressure of the water in the ground. A low water level will allow your liner to shift under pressure of the ground water. Your new winter cover should not have had anything to do with the problem. Have a professional look at it and post their findings here. There are plenty of experienced people here who can give you a second opinion.

Thanks for the advice!

It seems the pool had a leak, something sharp had been dragged by our vacuum and had caused the tear.
The leak must have been caused last summer, we did had some loss of water during summer but thought it was the due to the evaporation. Now we know why.
