Leaving the cover off at night will really cool your pool a lot. Also leaving the cover off during the day when it is overcast, cool , and windy can cool the pool.n8henry said:
it was 70 this morning, warmed up to 74 this afternoon.It was in the upper 80s until this past weekend when fall decided to give us a sneak peek.
I've been keeping the solar cover on and I have just one of those big black solar heaters but it helps.
I will definitely get in as soon as it hits 76 again - hopefully by Friday.
I might have to wear socks and mittens - maybe a hat too..... but I AM GETTING IN THAT POOL
Our weather has been cold last cpl weeks 50's at night 70 to low 80 during day very cloudy no sun and rain pool was around 94 now down to 78 to cold to swim for me I like atleast 88 and higher 
yesterday it was 80 by 5:30pm Sunday afternoon it was 71 brought it up Monday to 78, Tuesday morning it was 74 brought it up to 80.
All with Solar Panels. Was hoping to be able to bring it up more with Solar (new this year)

You have been doing pretty well. It's been a tough stretch in the season to keep pool temps up here in the north. Highs have been in the 70s here (MN) for a few weeks now and even with my solar (70% solar/pool area) I have only been able to obtain 80F pool water. What is your solar/pool area? How much sun do you get directly on the pool? Are you covering at night?outdoor said:

Interesting my brother who has an inground pool roughly 18x36 or 79,000 litres says his pool was 79 yesterday after not having any source of heat for a week only the cover. Seems like I should get more heat?
When ambient temps are cool, agp pools cool down quicker than igps. Again, at your solar/pool area ratio, I think you are doing fairly well. How windy has it been?

90...........so nice! That is using my ng heater and solar blanket when not in the pool. Brilliant consider some days it has only been 70 here.

Family in town, friends over all week. We swim multiple times daily. Loving it! Sucks our season is getting close to ending and it looks like the temps are dropping next week.

We are looking at overnight lows in the low 50's, so covered when not in use, and heater going as long as the wood supply lasts.
NWS says anywhere from 10* to 30* above the 10 year average for my area for the next 90 days. We'll see how this pans out.
