Good question. I will ask. But- if the Hayward is a good filter I am fine with the incoordination. The only pick I don’t understand is the hayward filter when everything else is pentair. Pentair often has rebates when you purchase multiple items- maybe they’re out of sand filters?

I will likely buy an old Pentair load center and gut it and either install a new Pentair control (less likely) or install a home automation control system like is discussed in the thread here at TFP (more likely).
Awesome!! I will request that change! Thank you!!!More Food for thought…
The ic60 doesn’t cost that much more than the ic40 & will yield you 50% more chlorine than the ic40 over its lifetime. Its a good upgrade in sunny Texas with your long swim/pool season. The larger the cell the less %/time you need to run it to produce the fc you need & the longer its 7-10k hour @ 100% lifespan will be in people years.
On another note - I need to get rid of about 100' of way overgrown pampas grass. Gonna learn how to use a backhoe. The bonfire is where the pool will be.
Thanks for your help!!
This Pampas grass has not been maintained for years. We do not want it next to the pool due to the fluffy stuff, and we do not want to have to maintain it next to the pool for years to come. But I will have to rent a backhoe to dig it up.Funny, my wife has me driving all over South Jersey looking for Pampas Grass at nursery after nursery. Apparently we are right on the border of where it may or may not survive winter. But, any old ornamental/beach grass wont due now that she's seen Pampas Grass on Pinterest.
Congrats on your pool. The only point I'll add is that in my opinion cartridge filters are a lot easier on pool owners than sand filters. It might be a little more money to purchase upfront, and you will need to replace the filters at some point, but operating ours has been so simple, and I'm thankful to not have to backwash.

There is simply no need for doubles. I'm sure I have, but I can't recall ever seeing this here before. It's like they don't understand how the valve works in the first place, so they need a 2nd valve., or should I use two valves, one for on off and the other for flow control?
Thank you sir. This will be my approach. In this case, with cheap valves, he added the second for "memory" of flow. Probably a good idea with cheap valves. My PB is good, but young and inexperienced in the automation part. I installed a marketplace Pentair automation panel and will have our features controlled by my phone. It is his first experience with that gear. (Maybe he has worked with another brand). But he does what he says he will do and always answers his phone. He has obvious experience otherwise, and has done a great job, paying attention to details I would not have considered. There is simply no need for doubles. Maybe they're used to their cheapo valves breaking so it must be from partial opens, instead of quality issues, I dunno.
But yeah. Use one quality valve and it won't care what purpose it serves.
