New pool owner just finished about three weeks ago. We saw our plaster guys using chemicals on the tiles to take out anything that got on them but they look bad now. Is this normal and if not anything we can do to fix? Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

@kimkats what do you think about this tile? You look at many tile pics.

It sure does look hazy.........ANY idea what they used on it and how the applied it? Do the tiles under the water look the same? Do you have pics of what it looked like before they worked on it?
Hi Kimkats appreciate you taking a look!
I believe they used muriatic acid wash after plaster. Tiles under water look the same as well. All hazy and with that black look creeping around the edges. I dont have a pic of before unfortunately but they were all clear.

any idea what it may be or if it i can apply anything to fix?

I will tell you that most plaster pools have the acid wash done on the plaster once it is applied. I have not seen what is going on with your tile with that process before. I am going to ask some questions and see what is what.

What have you done to try to clean the tiles?

Is there any one spot that is worst or better?

How are you adding chlorine to the water?

Is you water from the city or a well?

Nothing yet.
All uniform throughout.
Pool guy is handling so not sure.
City.

Okay here is one idea-take some rubbing alcohol out to the pool. Put a washcloth on the end of your finger and dip it into the alcohol and rub it on one of the tiles that is in a not often looked at place like an inside corner. See what that does. Let me know and we will go from there.
