Is it OK to let your water level creep above the skimmer box opening?

I don't seem to have a problem bringing in surface debris into the box at this water height so I'm not real sure.

The pump won’t care. You will have trouble skimming debris off the surface since the surface is above the opening.
You also will be more likely to overflow the pool sides if there is a lot of splashing around.
With your semi inground pool, it’s not huge issue.
