Very cloudy blue pool. Need advice

Have you read Add DE to a Sand Filter - Trouble Free Pool

When was the last time the sand filter was deep cleaned?
I did use DE with it the first time I did the slam this spring and got no results.

The sand is brand new this year. I changed it before this most recent slam. The sand that was in there actually looked good. Probably a waste of time and money changing it but I did it none the less.

There is an issue somewhere. Your sand filter should have cleared most if not all the particulates by now.

Check all connections at the filter. The MPV, etc.

If you wish to go there, use a quality phosphate remover/clarifier. SeaKlear.
I’ve looked over the filter quite thoroughly and see no issues. Pump runs great it was brand new as of last year. Always have good pressure of roughly 12-13PSI when startup is complete.

Do you think I’m at the point of using the phosphate remover or should I keep up the slam. I hate to stop and start all over.

Last year when I did this I could see the bottom of the shallow end on day 4. Day 5-6 the pool was perfect.

We do not believe phosphates are an issue. For whatever reason, your pool will not clear. 99% of the time that is a filter issue.
The SeaKlear is a good clarifier too. Just be sure you backwash it out of your filter really well, and consider a deep clean some time after using it.

is there any chance "something" is lurking in the deep end bottoms? i.e. leaves, pine needles , night crawlers. I had similar problem opening last spring. when i could finally see bottom, there was a lot of crud. took a lot of stirring it up with the brush to get things moving through the filter.

Looks like your standard post algae pool with a sand filter. But yours is too long in this stage. Check the filter.

When you say check the filter what exactly do you mean. I did take it apart completely and there are no cracked laterals. Pressure is good. Backwashes good. No water leaks that I can see.

I’ve jumped in 3 times now to check exactly that. Bottom looks mint. We use that little Polaris bottom cleaner all the time and it’s done the job great. There’s definitely no debris in the pool.
