Vegas OB! Just got plans back and need some feedback (pics included :) )

Mama! I bet if you have Will come over and just stand there with his arms crossed watching you will pass! LOL

Kim:kim:

Hahahah
That does always work for me.

And to answer your question about the lights I have 1 in the spa and 3 in the pool. The second light is on the other side of the skimmer. I'll try to take a better pic when I get home

Time to do some shifting of the lights.....The one on the left of the simmer needs to come to the right of it. The one by the shallow end needs to come closer to the the shallow end.

Right now you have 2 lights just in the deep end. and one between the deep and shallow.

Let us know what the PB says about this LOL You are more than welcome tell him Kimkats :kim: said they needed to be moved!

Man 11 lights is ALOT. And a lot of $$$$ lol. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you all think. The middle light is by the skimmer.
My guy did a awesome job and did the lights per plan but now that I see the pool with steel and the niches I'm not sure I will have great coverage in the shallow with it pointing at the spa, I'm concerned about the steps
Let me know what you think
One light in center and of deep end one by skimmer and 1 in shallow

Shallow light

I'm hoping someone better at pool lighting placement will chime in, but I think it really comes down to how much lighting you want at night. A lot of our lights are just accent lights and the cumulative effect is about 2-3 standard pool lights but without the stark bulb effect. Because you are choosing globrites I would think you'd need 2-3 for every one standard pool light. Most people still only put one light in their pool. My friends did and for the amount of swimming they do (lots of kids tons and tons) they probably don't regret it. But when the sun goes down everyone seems to get out of the pool - one it's everyone's bedtime but two the pool is kinda dark and the light is placed directly across from all the deck seating. It's just a rectangular pool. If I had designed their pool I would have put 3 nicheless lights on the side opposite the existing light and maybe lighted laminars on the other. I also think that in the end people only see the finished product and that's mostly tile, water color and lighting. So I didn't mind paying more money for lighting because that's what really separates my pool from "just another pool".

To answer your question I think you will have dim/shadow light on your steps. This could be good or bad. It depends on if you want to set an adults only romantic vibe or you're worried someone might miss a step.

Have you looked at a video of globrights on utube? That really helped me when we were planning our lights.

Here's s link to a utube video of a pool with two globrites. Remember that final water color also plays a role in how effective your lights are. The darker the water color the more lighting you need as the walls will absorb the lights. The lighter water color (and lighter walls used to make it) will reflect light and appear lighter.

Will...there's a pool almost across the street from you that you are more than welcome to come look at, even at night, that might help you put your mind at ease..;) I've tried to take some night pictures, but haven't got something I want to share yet.

On my pool, which overall (including sun deck and stairs) is about 48' long, has 4 lights. The sun deck has one light and is 8' long. So I've got three lights covering a width of about 40'. The first light from the stairs is about 8' away, and about 18" below the waterline. The pool is right at 12' across. The stairs are "lit' but shadowed, some light colors better than others (not unusual from what I have seen/read). I'm not at all unhappy with the main pool "look". If I had it to do all over again, I would actually add another light to the sun deck, because it's not as deep, and the one shallow light does not fully light it, and it gets no "help" from the others. (Or in a couple months, Hayward is supposed to have some smaller lights, and I'd have added 3 or 4 of those around the deck, and in the spa..LOL)

But, how the lights would look was one of my personal stress points during the whole build. If spending another $500 or so to put another one in would have let me have certainty that it was going to look awesome, even if it was a little overkill? I'd have spent it in a heartbeat. It will never be easier, or cheaper than right now to do that.

Also, dumb question...in post 2 of this thread, it showed another light in the pool, by the stairs, did you delete it?

And I'm serious...if you want to see mine lit up, even tonight...just let me know..you have my number. (I love to share it..:) )

Thanks for the link, this is helpful. I am just concerned about how the light shines right to left. . I know it will hit the spa area but I was concerned about the 90 degree angle towards the steps

Yes we only went with 3 lights in pool and 1 in spa based on recommendations that 4 in pool would be overkill. Now looking at the steel and pool I feel like I should have a light in the shallow pointing towards the deep end. After looking at the YouTube video posted I feel ok.
I am definitely going to be reaching out to you to check out the spa and lights. I appreciate how helpful you always are to me

Interesting to see how many people want a lot of lights in their pool... growing up in Texas, I always found that lights attract bugs, particularly June bugs, into the water... so one light is plenty for me... but then I like to swim by the light of the moon with the pool lights off...lol.

Ha, a full moon under the full moon. I do like light as swimming in a deep dark pool is unsettling for me.

I feel like a little kid of Christmas Eve/day! I been up for a few hours peaking out the windows walking around and just telling myself the gunite is going to show up any minute now lol
I know they are not scheduled till 7 but I want it NOW and I can't wait any longer. My whole day has been planned around this and I'm so looking forward to all the noise, and I don't care what my neighbors have to say. I have even walked my dog already.
Santa please send my gunite people right away Hahahaha
Signed
A patient pool wanting man

Well they just pulled up a few minutes ago and now we're battling Mother Nature. These crazy Vegas winds are picking up and they are not sure they want to shoot so we will see what's going to happen
