Hey all. Hopefully this thread will morph into a build thread but at the moment, I’m not so sure. I told my PB that we wanted to go ahead with a build this year and he said that he could do June/July but he couldn’t garauntee what equipment he could get between now and then. He agreed to let me purchase my own if I could get it.

Yesterday I called INYO and they didn’t sell my filter anymore but suggested 2 competitors. (Seriously, WHO does that). No trying to sell me something else, just trying to get me what I wanted. Top. Notch. Company. Right there.

So I was off to Recsupply and the rep took my info to go ask Pentair when they could get my filter. He called back to say that just Yesterday Pentair upped its expected ship times from 3-4 months to 7-8 months. So no dice with them.

I then found my beloved cartridge filter online (S8M500) ‘in stock’ (azpoolsupply) and quickly snatched it up. It’s been ‘awaiting payment’ for 24 hours now and a call to discover verified the charge wasn’t flagged as a possible fraud purchase.

Today was the SWG/Controller and pump (011028 / IC60) from INYO. They were accommodating as is always reported and verified that all 3 would all ship in about 3 days. 30 minutes after purchase I got an email that the control unit has been updated by Pentair as backordered with an expected ship date of 7/02. 🤦‍♂️ An hour and a half into it I haven’t been told that the pump and SWG are backordered so I’m hoping (send prayers) that they remain anything remotely close to shipping soon.

I have some time, so no panic mode yet, but the struggle is real. Even when it shows in stock.

011056 pumps have been more available then 011028 pumps and were less expensive last year. Grab a 011056 pump if you find one in your calling.

I asked for either and INYO said the 56 was discontinued from internet sales. She wasn’t sure but said a new model may be coming.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the IC60 is backordered until 7/02 too.

Not gonna lie that it’s kinda messed up that I spoke with someone in person who verified the sale/shipping but the system booted me after the fact.

I have found Polytec's "in stock" indicator to be very accurate.. I had a friend here in town that lost his CCP-520 due to our deep freeze. He said he could not find one. I looked at PollyTec and 320's and 420's showed out of stock, but 520 showed in stock.. I thought what is the real chances of that??.. But sure enough, my friend ordered it the same day and installed it at his house a few days later..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Check Polytec pools. They have been showing In Stock -- but that may be an illusion
INYO’s website showed in stock but I called just to add the extra layer of somebody to verify they could ship. Yesterday they said 10-15 days lately and today I was pleasantly surprised with a 3 day shipping estimate. Since then now 2 emails taking the IC60/Control unit much further out which I don’t blame on INYO, but whatever linking system is used between them and Pentair. INYOs primary POS system said ok, Pentair came back after the fact with no.
You can order a cell dummy tube and wait for the stock. Being in NY I would guess you want that anyway when you winterize
Yeah I am already thinking of contingencies. I can treat with LC no problemo for as long as I need to get the SWG. That’s almost a non issue and would save me some coin if I was forced to DIY. I can even run with no filter at first and treat pollen-y water until the filter comes. As long as I have the pump.

So Kim sent me a rainbow farting unicorn to aid my journey I just got an email from INYO that my pump shipped.

:party::party::party:

Thank you Miss !!!

Send another for my filter. I’m not greedy the SWG can wait if it has too. 😁

i don't know how my PB pulled it off but he was able to get all my stuff with no delay back in september. He only does a few pools a year so maybe that helped but I got very lucky that i was able to get my pool built when i did with no delay

I am surprised reading this as well. Our build went without issue back in November. PB had all the Pentair equipment in my sig available and installed right away. I promise I'm not trying to rub it in!

When did this backorder issue start?

It’s been ongoing since the great TX/OK freeze. Then a ship went sideways in the Suez and if it wasn’t carrying reinforcements itself, surely some of the 1000s of blocked ships were.

Pentair just raised its expected shipping times from 3-4 months to 7-8 months. But places still have inventory and luck is a beautiful lady they say.

It crazzy, I have been looking at Jandy Valves and you can't find them and if you do they want 120 bucks for 1... they used to be 56 dollars

I noticed this the other day. I bought three of the 2"-2.5" two way valves and seven of the 1.5"-2" two way valves for my pool build last summer and thought it was expensive then a almost $60 each.

They are completely crazy right now!!!

After the south froze over 2 months ago, thousands of pools equipment bit the dust...

20" of snow in South Arkansas is very far outside of normal. We had almost a whole week with temps below freezing. I never lost power thank goodness...as my pump runs to keep things from freezing up. Lots of people had a disaster on their hands after it warmed up.

I was talking to the pool guy who opened my pool today about the equipment shortages. He told me that his pool building and service company saw the shortage coming and ordered a lot of equipment a few months ago. He said they have lots of stuff for their customers but he was not sure it would last through the summer.

So those who had the capital to stock up and planned ahead seem to have equipment. Companies who don't carry any inventory and rely on drop shipping from a supplier are stuck with nothing to sell.
