Hi Folks, I’m a long-time Lurker that’s been running my pool for 25 years using old-school methods. Finally trying to drag myself - kicking and screaming - into the 21st century.
I still have a lot to learn before pulling the trigger on equipment upgrades, but first of all, it’s well-past time to ditch the chlorine tab floaters. It seems a SWCG is the best option for me. I spent time researching SWCG options, both on this site as well as netsurfing the various brands and resellers. At this point, I’m leaning toward the CircuPool RJ-60 Plus.
I’ve read several posts recommending that a properly sized SWCG should have a pool-size-rating that is a minimum of 2X times the size of the pool. My pool is 35K gal. This suggests I should be looking for a SWCG with a minimum rating of 70K gal. This significantly limits my choice of residential-class systems, possibly kicking me up into the commercial realm. Does this 2X suggestion apply regardless of pool size?
The RJ-60 Plus is specified for a 60K gal pool with a chlorine generation rating of 3.1 lbs/hr. Would I be ill advised to select this RJ-60 Plus system?
I'm hoping the answer, as Hector Barbossa might say, is that this unwritten rule is actually more of a guideline!
