Tabs versus liquid chlorine

As long as you are able to meet the FC/CYA Levels all the time, no. That will be very difficult and will require replacing around 1/2 your pool volume every 4-6 weeks with fresh water.

Yes, if you don't want to become the scheduled automation, you will need a chlorine pump to take over. I get a good burn off of CYA during this heat, and with that take a week or so break from jug adds now and again and use my chlorinator, but I monitor my CYA level pretty good. With tabs, the CYA level still climbs real fast, way faster than it burns off.

The addition of a pump makes it very easy.
