Guys, I’m back. Opened this year, FC was around 15-16. My CYA is at 70.
Things have been fine until the last couple of weeks. We had landscaping done, spring is in full bloom, and to break it down gently - I think pollen and dirt have gotten into the pool via our auto cover.
I’ve been noticing the same crud I dealt with last summer coming back but here’s the kicker - it seems to only show up after we’ve closed the auto cover. I’ve vacuumed it to a skim sock - it is pretty much the same stuff as last year when I had the month long SLAM.
I had the cover closed for 3 days. The SWG ran at 50% the entire time. My FC stayed basically right at 15 (may have even gone down some) and the pool was a dirty mess. We have been dealing with the horrible rains here in KY also. So there was zero sunshine on the pool during that time. The fact that the FC didn’t go up at all was my clue. I’ve just been feeling like my #s haven’t been reflective of how I’ve been running the SWG.
I did the OCLT last night. Went from 20.00 FC to 19 FC. And I got 1.0 CC this am. So, I plan to Slam immediately.
I’ve kept my FC high the entire time, above what I consider the “mustard minimum” level would be. I routinely reference the standard chart.
Any ideas on how I got back here? I really think it’s the auto cover. We’ve had a hard time keeping it just clean as a whistle. We did get a fair amount of dirt in the pool. Otherwise, we’ve done a good job keeping the pool clean.
