SLAM AND FC levels

So I've been checking my chlorine levels through my slam, and I've been noticing that about 2 hours or so after I bump it up it actually is higher than my slam level. CYA is 30 so I'm slamming at 12. At about 10:00 my level was 11, so using pool math I added the recommended dosage for the size of my pool. Tested at about 1:30 and it's at 12.5.

I'm wondering if I'm overestimating my pool volume. We were told that it was 4 ft in the shallow end, and 8 ft in the deep end. We measured the length and width of the pool and it's 35x17. I'm wondering if maybe I'm not getting accurate info from the pool people. And so my volume is actually smaller than what they're telling me.

Any ideas on how I can manually measure how deep my pool is?
