Whoa didn’t know those were all possibilities. If you are using liquid chlorine shock to maintain FC. Good to go!
If you are using Dichlor shock maintain FC, it adds CYA.
If you are using Cal-Hypo to maintain FC, it adds Calcium which can cause scale, even in Vinyl pool....wtih your CH at 450, I wouldn't use it.
If you are "shocking" your pool (raising FC significantly), once a week because you hear shocking your pool is good, that is not something we recommend. If you maintain your FC, with liquid chlorine or SWCG, per the FC/CYA Levels, you should be good to go, and not need to "shock" the pool.
If you want to use Dichlor to raise your CYA, or raise FC AND CYA, then that is OK.
If you want to use Cal-Hypo to raise your CH, or raise FC and CH, then that is OK.
Just trying to figure out what you are adding and why.
YOU GOT IT! Yeah, it is safe to swim up to slam level. I raise mine a bit ABOVE the recommended range before I have a pool party. I have SWCG. Recommendation for 70 CYA is 5. I keep my pool around 7 for me or a couple swimmers daily, and 9 if I'm having guests. I will turn the SWCG up during the swim day, which is same as you adding liquid chlorine during the day. With Swimmers and sun I can use up 4.5FC in June. You can even have a forced 20 min. break, test add and re-party, if that is a bit much. You will even see a residual effect during the night as it is cleaning up after swimmers, so ok to check a few times a day.Whoa didn’t know those were all possibilities.
We are planning on having quite a bit of swimmers next week and I just want to stay ahead of the game. But sounds like to me I should be okay with liquid chlorine and maintain FC:CYA table. Because of the heavy activity I would want to check daily and aim high end of the FC:CYA table
How long would you say it takes for chlorine to mix?YOU GOT IT! Yeah, it is safe to swim up to slam level. I raise mine a bit ABOVE the recommended range before I have a pool party. I have SWCG.
