Hi all; New to forum! Hope someone can help me out. I have an in-ground 26k gallon pool. 24" Sand filter with new lateral and pipe assy. New 2hp single speed motor. Pump rebuilt (seals were leaking) Maintains constant 22psi on pressure gauge...NEVER EVER CHANGES 🤔!

Problem is ever since had pump rebuilt and motor replaced, water is ALWAYS cloudy. Before the pump and motor work, everything was fine. Glass media was just replaced 3 months prior to pump/motor repair. I've tried to floc and water was clear after vacuuming. Then it gradually got cloudy again. Water tests show good levels on pH, chlorine, etc... but still getting cloudy and green. It's like it's not filtering ever since pump/motor work.

Is it possible to have too much motor?

Welcome to TFP.

You have a filter problem, not a motor problem.

Do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test and see if you have an algae problem.

Have you opened up your filter and looked at the condition of the glass media, which we do not recommend.

Chlorine shows high but Cyanuric acid shows high. Was told that will cause chems to be ineffective.
Time to get your own test kit. A Taylor K-2006C or TFT Test Kits

Then post your water chemistry from your test kit and we can give you further advice.

Either you need to lower your CYA by draining the pool or raise your chlorine level.

"911", as you can see from the quick burst of replies, you're about to receive the TFP "guidance by firehose" method. Members enjoy heling others, especially new members, so try not to let it overwhelm you. As noted above, everything we emphasize here at TFP begins with accurate water testing. You won't get that from a weekly service or pool store. At-home wat testing is quite easy (with the proper kit) and one of the few things we can still do at home without fancy hardware or computers. You can do it. :goodjob:

From there, the advice will be clear and accurate. It will make a lot of sense at that point. So for now, try t focus on a good test kit. I recommend the TF-100 or TF Pro-Series kits. I think they are a better value, but the Taylor K-2006C is good as well. Once you get one of those kits let us know. A few notes in the meantime:

- Be sure to add a little more info to your signature like pool type (plaster, vinyl, fiberglass) and size (gallons). It will help later.
- Add liquid chlorine to the water each day. About 5 ppm worth of chlorine. The PoolMath APP can help you with the dosage.
- Other than liquid chlorine, don't add anything else to the water. Wait until the kit arrives.
- Later we can give you many, many more tips to help make pool life much easier.

Welcome!

Oh, I almost forgot. Tfteskits.net is offering a Back Friday-Cyber Monday sale on kits. 15% off I believe. I'd jump on that if I were you. :)

"Use promo code FRIDAY to enjoy 15% off any of our complete test kits. This code will be active from 11/29/2024 until 12/2/2024."
