Do you know what the pipe does? I looks like it might be a fill line. If it is, you'll want to shut off the supply upstream before starting any repairs.
judging from the equipment and pipes, that seems to be the pipe sending water back to pool, as both water after filter and polaris pump discharging into it.Do you know what the pipe does? Note that those Jandy valves are backwards from most 1/4 turn shutoff ball valves. Usually to stop the water flow you turn the handle perpendicular to the water flow, but Jandy does it opposite. Those the handle kinda points to the part of the pipe you want to block off. Just thought I’d share that in case it wasn’t obvious.Cut the return line below the coupling, while shut the jandy valve (180 degree, supposedly shut off both inlets), plugged both skimmers and three return outlets, but water still gushing out from that pipe above from concrete and does not seem to stop (already 15mins). Can the oatey primer+cement be used in this case? Please help.
Put a shop vac at that opening after cut, water backfills up quickly still.
Gushing upwards from that return pipe. The shop vac has been running for an hour, not seeing the water stopping.Which direction is it gushing from ? Hopefully the pad and it’s just filter water. That could take a while to drain.
i loosen the screw on that valve and lifted the handle to turn it away from the inlet pipe leading into the filter pump. The pool guy told me that is to shut off both skimmersNote that those Jandy valves are backwards from most 1/4 turn shutoff ball valves. It appears soThere is one outlet port for the polaris as well, do I need to block that
so in theory it will leak until it empties to that spot. In the pool you shouldn’t need much to hold in place because the pool water will push on anything you block there. Try making a mushroom out of seran wrap. Make the stem a little larger than the pipe so it fits snug and the cap of the mushroom much larger than the pipe so there is no way it can be pushed in. It may take a few tries to have enough seran wrap in one piece to make it work. Or better yet, make a pool noddle that tapers down on the pipe side but the fatter side simply can’t be pushed into the pipe.that seems to be the pipe sending water back to pool, as both water after filter and polaris pump discharging into it.
That would be fine if you got them all. But if the vac return is still open and bridged to/through the leaking pipe, it needs a plug too. A rubber stopper would be awsome if you have any extras. Or most hardware stores / home centers carry them if any are close. Was it because I did not plug the ports right? I used those rubber plugs
Probably the filter overcoming the vacuum and slowly draining. If you have an air relief valve you can open it to speed the process. Once you let air into the filter it will beer bong itself empty in 4 secondsalso from the upper part I have small streams of water from pump side, not as much as the return line.
Ooof. MacGuyver it with seran wrap thats bigger on the pool side. Smush enough in there to plug it but make sure there is a big enough mushroom cap that you can pull it out / it doesn’t get sucked in the pipeMy polaris port looks like this. What do I use to block that?
What is seran wrap? Bear with my ignorance. I do have extra rubber plugs but not in that shape, have pool noodles too.Ooof. MacGuyver it with seran wrap thats bigger on the pool side. Cling wrap, renyolds wrap…. The clear plastic stuff you cover leftovers in the fridge with. What is seran wrap?
Both my skimmers are plugged. I can't to find any valve/control for the main drain. I was told that the main drain was connected to the deeper end skimmer (not sure if the pool guys opened the main drain while the old water was drained out entirely). I only see four other holes on the pool wall, three of which I tested with my finger while filter pump was on, and they had pressure. I plugged them all, but not sure how tight I should plug, I feel they are plugged pretty well.If that is the return to the pool, then one of the return ports in the pool is not plugged. Check the skimmers and main drain.
