We have a 20' x 48" round pool and are in the process of upgrading the filter pump system. (The filter pump that came with the pool failed after a couple of weeks.) We are awaiting the arrival of a Hayward W3CC15093S XStream Above-Ground Pool Filter Pump System, 1.5 HP. It may be oversized for our pool but, given the high demand for pool supplies right now, it's what we had to settle for.
We are prepping for the new filter pump and, despite hours of searching, I cannot seem to find any advice on whether or not the inlet/outlet ports on the pool wall should be enlarged from the 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" for better water flow. Would the water flow be detrimentally restricted and harm the pump if we did not enlarge the ports? Thank you for any guidance you can provide on this.
