Pump not pulling water from skimmers (New Pool)

Hi everyone.

New pool owner here. We are trying to prime our pump, but it seems to not be pulling from the skimmers. We can't seem to get enough water pressure pulling. Now, we had not filled the sand filter with water. Does that need to be filled up first? Lots of potential things that it might be, but we just don't know where to start.

HELP!

Any advice would be appreciated.

No.

Did you fill the pump volute with water?
Is the pump above or below the skimmer level.
What type of pump do you have (VSP, two speed or single speed)?
