Post what your pool cost you to build...

In Dallas, TX - completed summer 2015, roughly $57K. Didn't know about this site at the time and wish we'd done a little more research. We were trying hard to keep it down, so we skimped on some concrete - wish we had more decking. Basic freeform Pool, 15*30, spa maybe 7*7. The company told us basic prices were $40K for pool, add $10K for the spa and then add ons. 5.5 ft deep, 2 top sprays, tanning ledge, bubbler, all Pentair equipment with automation and Pebblesheen. That included fence repair, sprinkler system repair and a pallet of grass. We did the landscaping afterwards.

Pool built in 2009 21k includes all pavers and footers, screen cage was $6,700. Does not include solar and heat pump as I added those after the pool was built.

Interesting to see what others are paying. I feel like I'm getting a bad deal - but had 4 bids and all were within $10k.

18x36' vinyl rectangle will cost me about $50k with automation and 1,000 sq.ft concrete decking. I'll post up final prices once it's done. Dig starts tomorrow :D

20'x45' inground gunite rectangle pool with 8'x8' integrated spa, autocover, pebblesheen, slide (and all pool/spa related components): $105k

everything else is added cost (repair sprinkler system, lawn, travertine decking, drainage). I believe when all is said and done, we're figuring $150K.

We start the build next week.

$150k is a good chunk of change. I imagine pools cost much more to build in NY vs places where they are more common, like here in AZ.

Right now now there are a couple of different shows on TV about building pools. Quality television programming for pool geeks like many of us. These shows feature $1M pools that are way over the top.

I'm in New Jersey. 18x42.5' with tanning ledge and attached 7x7 spa. It's heated and has 2 deck jets, 2 lights in pool, and 1 in spa. Also, there's a 30" raised wall along backside. I'm at $65k for the pool. Comes in at 36k gallons.

Our pool, specs in my siggy, is costing more than we planned but it has def turned into a fully custom pool. And we did get upgraded automation and bigger spa heater at no additional charge. Swapped out concrete pavers for cost of delivery fee ($175) and got travertine decking at cost at contractor price (1500 square ft). With a screen as well. I think with all the changes we are around $80k? Not sure as hubby has been handling the numbers side.

Overall project cost was $412K Its not just the pool cost, but all the other associated cost (projects) that are involved in the transformation. I have attached some before and after pictures.

Now on to some of those other cost:
Perimeter stucco walls(310 linear feet) with stone $54k
Sea wall (110 linear feet) with Trex boardwalk and Al. rail $ 32k
A/V equipment $19k
Landscaping and sprinkler system $30k
Outdoor landscape lighting $16k
Hand made Mahogany gates $16k
Marble Lions for the pedestals of the infinity edge $8k
Mosaic in the bottom of the pool (installed) $16k
outdoor furniture $15k
Additional surveillance cameras for outdoors $4k
Pergola (made by Equinox) $18k
Stone on the back of the house $9k

I didn't even talk about the pool, all the stone retaining walls, kitchen, catch basin, travertine and probably some of the stuff I forgot about. There is over 850,000 lbs. of concrete and block in the backyard.

Whew! It all adds up.

We are blessed in life and it's all paid for. I can tell you my first 2 pools were nowhere as costly or involved as this project. Whether your pool project is your first, last or something in between, the fun and fulfillment is the same for all of us.

just my .02 cents

This post was for Esloser, i dont know why it jumped to its own post?

Wow that seems pretty good..........i live outside bridgeton, who was your pool builder that you used in this area?

Did they handle everything from start to finish? (permits, electrical, etc)
