Possible Suction leak

I have I guess like most people a drain and a skimmer with Jandy never lube valves that I can open and close to turn the skimmer/drain on and off. I noticed today some bubbles in the filter basket and my laminars were spitting so I"m guessing I have a little bit of a suction leak.

What I noticed is that if I have the skimmer on by itself, I'm noticing some bubbles getting into the filter basket, but if I turn on the drain, then the bubbles appear to go away. This would lead me to possibly believe that I have a leak in the drain never lube valve and need to change the orings? Theory being when nothing is coming through it, it can suck air through, but when the water is going through it, it eliminates most of it?

Is this sound theory??

I went out again and now I"m not completely sure, it looks like it gets better when the drain is completely closed and just the skimmer, but how do I know if I really have a suction leak? Is there a video that shows what the pump basket looks like with a suction leak?

Wrap Saran wrap around the area you suspect the leak. The wrap will plug the leak. If the bubbles go away you found the culprit.

Fix the most likely suspect and reassess.

First one is with the drain open, second one is with the skimmer open. does this look like a suction leak before I go crazy? Second I have no idea where to wrap the saran wrap. I have a electronic jandy diverty valve to switch between spa and pool. I have 3 jandy never lube valves to open the skimmer/drain/and cleaner. Cleaner has never been used since we moved in. I use robotic and then there is the union to the pump. I just took out the seal to the the filter basket and cleaned the basket and lubed the seal.

Begin with putting a good coat of Pool Lube on the pump lid O ring.

Post pics of your equipment pad where we can see all your suction side pipes and valves.

Maybe a small suction leak. Not big enough that I would worry about it if it is not affecting anything.

I wait until it becomes a larger leak and easier to find.

I'm concerned its affecting my laminars which is why I went searching, but maybe not. I got a video of one of the laminars making a spitting sound like air in the line every 12 seconds or maybe a bit longer, but the other one wasn't doing it as often or at all so if you don't think its a problem. I'll just work on cleaning the laminars if I can get rid of the roaches.

I replied to your roach thread.

See if the spitting from the laminar is really from air in the pump or from debris from the roaches.

It does not look like the air is enough in the pump to cause spitting at the laminar.
