Pool lights.

I've thought about it I'm sure they are not certified for pool use. Low voltage so not sure if there is any real danger other than the lights failing.

G,

Keep in mind that pool rated lights have transformers that are made specifically so that if the transformer blows up, or goes bad, it won't let the high voltage from the Primary side get into the Secondary low voltage side..

I doubt that your rope lights would ever be a problem... but who wants to be the one to check it out..

Thanks,

Jim R.

That’s why I don’t want to be the first ones to use them. Heheheh 😬

I looked for hours on what I could use under the ledge, really wanted rope or led strips. Finally just ordered these. I've sealed them with some kind of tape my SO had. I have not used them yet, but will try and get them in tonight and take a picture

Ordered them last year. Didn’t put out much light for my 30 foot pool. I had purchased something similar at our local pool store that was $30 for one. It was really good so I invested in 3 more. But they did not winter well. So I am looking for something else.

ah, well, I didn't have high expectations for under $30 anyways. My pool is only 18' so maybe I'll get a little more distance out of them?

I doubt you are going to be very happy with a battery powered light. They simply don't have the power to produce enough lumens to be useful. Hopefully this set is the exception.

@Gouge & @PoolGate I agree, these battery lights are on the sad side of meh. Red is pretty much pointless, the white and blues are a bit better. I have string lights around the yard so they will do for now, I'd also prefer the uniform of strips rather than the pops but that is just me complaining about 1st world problems.

That is a really nice set up! How wet does the tape strip get? I did the math on length I would need and it adds up.
it doesnt get too wet but the tape suppose to hold up. they also sell hooks you can screw into something. i figured if the double sided tape doesn't hold up i'll use something else. gorilla makes even stronger double sided tape. where connections are i wrapped it will 3M super 33+ tape and then with 3M rubber waterproof tape. I have used both of these a lot in past 15 years for my job and they work really well outdoor.

@cowboycasey I just stumbled on your old Intex build thread. I looked for details on your lights, but couldn't find. Did they work well and hold up? Do you have a link to?

They are still there and they work great 8 years later :)

it is not that painful to do but its not cheap and not easy to do it safely.. It is ALL DIY...

1. These are beasts and I have had NO ISSUES with the 2 I have for all my lights.. boondocker 100 amp DC 12 volt power supply BD 12100CL-Boondocker BD 12100CL (100 Amp 4-Stage Converter/
2. waterproof electrical box for the power supply https://smile.amazon.com/Ogrmar-Dustproof-Waterproof-Universal-Electrical/dp/B07KW14VH9
3 IP 67 LED outdoor lights 5050 with 3 wire 12v negative and positive and data, I ordered mine of ebay
4. I soldered everything together
5 SOOW electric cable for 12v negative and positive and 1 for data.. This gets run from the power supply and put at the end of every light and used to soldier around the corners Like this but I went to a local electric shop and got a 300 foot roll (I use it for everything for DIY goodness) https://smile.amazon.com/Bulk-Cable-100-Foot-Resistant/dp/B07MZC4TT3
6 use a wire puller to pull the LED through the top https://smile.amazon.com/RamPro-Spring-Steel-Impact-Electric-Communication/dp/B01MXIOGF7
7. lots of silicone 100% waterproof, after everything is soldered together and working then and only then apply tons of silicone on every connection and cover the ends of the lights...
8 get almost any of the led light controllers off eBay or amazon and wire it up..

I hope this helps :)
