Pool Build Finally Started - Bryan, TX (11/4/20)

So Nikilyn. . . .
For some reason the steps on chemicals after the fill are making me nervous. Getting it wrong.
It's nice to know others are going thru all this. I'm one that's going to be hand holding. !!

It will all be OK. Just one step at a time. Since the PB is doing chemicals at first don't stress if it's not like TFP. Most people do what the PB is doing and their pools work. They may take more effort but it will totally be fine for the first month until you get the SWG up and running. He's in charge of warranty so let him do his thing. I would practice your TFP tests while he's taking care of it though. It will help you understand it and learn the testing.

It will be easy to not get in the pool or put furniture in there because it's way too cold for that 🥶. It will be perfectly cured and balanced by the time you want to swim. Even with a heater you have to get out 🥶. As for brushing, you'll want to be out with it and doing something with it so enjoy it!
As for getting your hubby to read up and watch the videos, pull it out for him when you get into bed before going to sleep. That when we watched them.

So when the pool is full of water . . .
No robot for a month
No SWG for a month
No heater for a month
No swimming for ? PB said until he says it's safe.
No furniture in the pool
Bare feet only in the pool for the first 2 weeks
Brushing twice a day when filter pump is set up and continue brushing for 2 weeks. Top to bottom, downward motion. And check and clean the filter for pool dust during this time.

It's what chemicals he'll be pushing. He mentioned TFP is really good but he 'uses a different routine.' PLEASE! Don't confuse me!
I assume the first thing he'll do is add pool stabilizer when the pumps are running. And I know we need to check the levels in the pool. I'm hopping hubby will stop messing with setting up the flower beds and read up on these topics. He's the science math guy. I am not. Give me design and art and I'm golden. I guess that's why I'm nervous over the chemicals. At least we'll get the proper volume/gallons in the pool tomorrow.

Just after pool is filled, record water meter reading again(yes, pic is best).
Subtract it to get the difference. Then subtract what amount if water you would normally use in the fill time period. This gives you best estimate for your pool volume.

Here is the Hydrazzo warranty numbers:
CL 1.0 – 3.0 ppm
pH 7.2 – 7.6
Total Alkalinity (TA) 80 – 100 ppm
Calcium Hardness (CH) 200 – 400 ppm (In warmer climates when water temperatures exceed 90 F calcium should be kept below 350 PPM)
Cyanuric Acid less than 50 ppm
Sequestering 10-12 ppm

It's nice to know others are going thru all this. I'm one that's going to be hand holding. !!

breathe!!! Let them do what they will and once they hand you the keys then balance it for yourself and that will be my plan as well if I don't kick em out before then lol trust me it can not get as damaged as what the previous owners did to mine

Good advice both of you. I guess now that it's down to the finish line I'm stressing.
I'm sharing my log in info with hubby so hopefully when he gets around to it, he'll be informed. He's had to redo the sprinklers and dig the trenches, going back and forth to Lowe's / Home Depot for parts. . . Now it's bricks, rocks, and dirt for the flower beds. Sod is coming Thursday and we'll do that ourselves.

The pool crew is polishing and acid washing our plaster right now. They're almost done.
I've read a lot on the pool fill and feel good about that step . . . My question:
Our equipment is not hooked up and our pool plaster rep manager said it's okay for the pool to sit 24 hours after filling without the pump running.. IE: He hasn't had the crew out to hook it up.

Since that's delayed I'll be brushing and testing the water but wonder about adding chlorine and safety when the pool isn't circulating.

For those keeping track of my build . .. . This question was moved from another forum and the answers are scattered on here. The answer was that it's okay to let the water sit without the pump running - Something I never read about. Good to know.

Wow, I've sure missed a LOT! First, congratulations on the plaster!!! 🥳 Sounds like they're doing very thorough work and you're going to have an ultra smooth finish! I have to remember to come back and read this thread when I'm at this stage, because I'll need all the great advise and moral support you're getting. Good luck with the fill! Can't wait to see pics!

My pool sat for 3 days before anything was hooked up I didn't add anything no issues at all. Follow your builder's direction at this point.

Yup, I was trying to sleep thru it! I've been sleeping too light lately.
Hubby has our water hoses plan down, socks, and he said the build will have filters on our hoses. ??
Can someone elaborate on socks and filters for the hose when filling? I feel when I have seen pics on here of people filling their pools it has always just been a hose and no filters.

You attach a sock to the end of your hose with duct tape, I think, so it won’t scratch the finish and also helps soften the flow of water since it’s on high. At least that’s what I’ve always thought.

Yes, a tube sock with the opening pulled up the hose and the end sitting in the toe area. Hubby had zip ties so used those to keep the sock on. We have three hoses going and the fill is going up fast. Pictures coming when I'm not dead tired!!

EDIT: Pool fill started at 4:15PM and will probably be done around 12:30AM. Hubby was out around 11:30PM netting some debris floating on the pool surface. I could hear him with the door closed. . . Reminded him our neighbors around us are sleeping.

A memorialized leaf! Is that like the first dollar you ever earned?
Well, it was 11:30PM. Nope, no singing, Kim! It was dead quiet and the net swishing in the pool and clunking is what I heard. I'll have to see if whatever he scooped up is still in the net! . . . . He said it is!

Fill was 4:15PM to 1:20AM. Meter reading means we have 12,660 gallons in our pool. I can't remember if this number is rounded up?
Main observation: It was WONDERFUL having water back!. Dumping a bucket of water works, but flushing toilets are best. Funny how you miss the small things.

The wind's blowing so strong it looks like the pumps are on. (Temp is 66 degrees and winds at 17MPH) Pictures downloaded soon!
