Pool Build Finally Started - Bryan, TX (11/4/20)

Funny thing is, when I saw the picture is your Cyclone filter we were picking ours up from the pool supply. I thought that was a crazy coincidence since they aren't very common on here 😊.

The pool builder we went with goes with those filters. It's what they always install. I guess they've had luck with them. We'll have to compare notes and see how they hold up.

1/27/21 Two guys came back to sand down the rough areas on the spray decking. Hubby reminded me they applied it right before it rained, so I assume the mistakes we saw were due to being rushed. So they arrived at 7AM and power tooled through an hour and left. Then two more came and repainted the decking.
Hopefully sod and stepping stones will arrive tomorrow. If all goes according to schedule, the plaster will be done next week. We've had some weather delays.

LOVE your signature. !! When I ever get around to mine . . .
I was so disappointed. I went to Lowe's, bought more plants, was ready to plant in the area between the deck and house, and then had to wait two days. The spray decking and painting had to dry. Again. !!

Edit: Tip from our pool designer. Call your water company and tell them the day your pool is being filled. Let them know it's for your pool, a one time deal.

After a scare of stuff on the tile step, the pool build manager said it's marble dust from texturing. He said an acid wash by the plaster crew will clean it up. I was so worried about this. . . . Thinking the worst.
So yesterday I planted some gardenia bushes. Some I had in pots. They survived our 100 degree days last summer and the freezing cold this winter. I bought 4 smaller newer plants to fill in the space. Just need to spread mulch around them!

PICTURES: Two are of the stuff on the tiled step. And one of the plants.
EDIT: That awful peeling black metal thing in the background is our patio table a neighbor gave us when they moved. We have it on it's side as a barrier to keep the dogs out of the pool build.

Thank you!
I was reading a note -- February is gardening month in our area. I've never raised gardenias before but babied 4 of those plants for months. They are rather picky, part sun/part shade and do better in a setting that has a breeze. On YouTube Jim Putnam talks about plants that do well in Raleigh, NC and the south. Here's his clip about gardenias and he has a couple more. I'm hopeful mine will do well. . .

I've lost track. Who else was doing their pool build using the Isola Master Tile? I remember they used the subway shape and the geometric insert one. I tried back tracking and can't seem to find it. The build was maybe a month off/give or take from mine here.

I've only seen gardenias do well in the (mostly if not complete) shade, here in So CA, but that video gives me hope that some of them can take direct sun. Thanks for sending that link! I didn't know there were so many varieties.

I didn't either )
I like his videos, he gives all sorts of good information on plants, soils, etc. etc. He used to own his own plant nursery/garden center. I've learned a lot from his channel.

Today the pool manager came by as well as the clean up crew. They drained the pool and scraped around the gunite. It sounded like they were scraping dirt with a shovel. So tomorrow at 7AM they arrive to start on the plaster. I'm nervous. Not about the plaster or the fill, but making sure everything is done correctly with bringing the chemical levels up. I've been reading the start up area. I don't know what the pool store supplies us, what the 'pool school' talk will entail and what will be different from what TFP says. .. . . So many unknowns.

They were actually scraping concrete with the shovel. My husband was doing that the other day after the deck was poured and it was LOUD! I'm so excited for you to get pebble tomorrow. Can't wait to see it 😊.

Yup, I was trying to sleep thru it! I've been sleeping too light lately.
Hubby has our water hoses plan down, socks, and he said the build will have filters on our hoses. ?? The water meter is located and camera all ready. I updated my signature -- Said I had too many words so it got a butcher job. !! True gallons will be incoming in the next few days.

Yes, they are here. The guy overseeing the job today came before 7AM. It's 9:15 now and they're still working hard. These pictures are before the sun came fully up -- Around 8:15AM. The plaster color looks different and I'm sure the color will lighten as it dries. Tomorrow the plaster is polished and acid washed and then the fill with water. Dogs are fed, been outside to do their business, and I'm ready for a nap. !!

I like the color. It looks like it’s similar to what we’re getting. I wanted medium blue water. I’m sure tomorrow it will look even more different after the acid wash and polish.
