Hi. Polaris 280 problem - the part that attaches to the pool wall has broken. I've been searching for a replacement but haven't had much luck finding the exact match. I did try a universal wall mount, but it’s not quite fitting—it's a bit too small, so the screw ends up being loose.

I’ve attached pictures of both the broken part and the new one I bought.

Any advice or recommendations on where to find a compatible part would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!

Welcome to TFP.

You posted three pictures.

One is the diagram of the Polaris UWF. Neither of the other pictures look like parts from the UWF.

Another picture is of a LASCO 1 1/2" to 3/4" threaded reducer. It looks like whatever was connected to the 3/4" threads broke off.

The third picture shows two pieces of I am not sure what.

Show us the hose of your Polaris 280 where it connected to your pool wall and show us the pool wall pipe it connects to.

Your Polaris G-9 adapter is broken. Not sure why it was plumbed that way, but I have seen the wall socket get expanded so that the UWF doesn't tighten. You can try a lot of Teflon tape on the cup that threads into the wall fitting to take up the slack. You can get both the G-9 and another 3/4" FIP to 1.5" MIP reducer bushing and give it a shot. A lot of Teflon tape on the bushing.

Learn something new here all the time. So old Polaris cleaners used a 3/4" threaded pipe at the pool wall. And the G-9 is used to connect the 1 1/2" UWF to the 3/4" wall fitting.

It sounds like the OPs pool has a 1 1/2" wall pipe (and that was never stated in the post) that the UWF fit in too loosely. So some creative repairman used a G-9 and a 3/4" FIP to 1.5" MIP reducer bushing into the pool wall to create a new 1 1/2" socket the UWF fit better in.

No, old Arneson Pool Sweep (the first really effective, widely available cleaner that actually worked very well) fittings had 3/4" wall FIP fittings. The G-9 was developed when Polaris started being offered and their wall fitting wouldn't fit a 3/4" FIP.
I had to do that once on a pool, make a 1.5" Polaris fitting stay in an expanded-for-some-reason 1.5" FIP in the wall. Only saw it once and could not figure out why it happened.

Funny how I got a new client the other day with a 70's plaster pool and there's a 3/4" threaded plug in the port which I assume is/was for a pool sweep. There an uncapped pvc 1"pipe stubbed out by the equipment, no motor in sight but a cynderblock where it looks to have been sitting on and the cb box has a circuit breaker labeled sweeper. Wondering what and how I can get that going obviously with a polaris pump of sorts. Anyone have the info.

Proper plumbing after the filter, time clock, booster pump, G-9 wall adapter for the UWF.
