Planning new build in NY

great point regarding uniformity support on the back fill vs non back fill part. Will talk to my PB to see option of leaving a pump at bottom of deep end.
Travertine pavers are set with very little to no joint spacing so any settling is far more noticeable than with typical concrete pavers. They can also chip if they settle. The concrete slab will give uniform support so individual paver settling is eliminated. Your backfill will have dissimilar materials. The areas on top of the stone backfill will have very little to no movement and all other areas will be subject to movement from frost.

I would ask if he would be willing to do a slab and what the extra cost would be.

Nice to see they are going to run drain to daylight. They should encase the outfall pipe in stone and filter fabric.

This of course will only drain the water to to the bottom of the pool walls. I am not sure if it will be a issue if you have to replace the liner. I would certainly want to be able to lower the water table to the bottom of the pool if I had to change out a liner. Hopefully others will chime in with there opinion.

Those rocks are from dumping / fill from building the house I believe. To level off with raised septic field.
Under regular circumstances, we would have completed the project by now.
we have to move forward with what’s dealt with in our hands right now to minimize the damage.

It appears they removed a "Bit" of rock, However the the hole does not look like your typical ledge dig. Did he shim up the hole before placing the walls and if so what type of material did he use? Or was all that rock just buried up there?

May I ask what brand auto cover you have and how many yrs you’ve had it? I am ~40 minutes north of you. It’s a hard decision, the tracks and coping might further delay my mess in the yard. Installation and waiting for the materials complicates the pool decking process. Also, it will add a $2k more to built the concrete auto cover casing on top of the stainless steel casing (included in with auto cover)to held travertine weight.
I think you should go for the auto cover. I have pools with them and the pool remains cleaner and most used for a longer swim season. There is very little that go wrong with them but they are a huge advantage. If you don't do it now it can't be done later the same way. You will be heating the sky if you don't have the cover and I don't think you want to mess with those very cumbersome solar covers. i have a pool that opens every year April 1rst and closes mid to end November. We just closed it 2 days ago and had the last swim 3 days ago..

This neighborhood has lots of trees and many species. Between the pollen, spring foliage and the fall there is much to be gained. It's almost set it and forget it. The pollen always flirts with the water and the non ending nuisance foliage early and late won't give many of these pool owners a break. Then the occasional summer heavy rain storm accompanied by winds also makes these covers a God sent. Your chemicals stay more uniform and the water much easier to control as rain water does not get into the pool either. The pool I mentioned which was just closed this week was converted to SWCG July and since only needed to add water twice and MA twice too. In short if you have room in the budget it would be a no brainer. I'll see if I can get the cover brand and to answer your question I think this was summer 5 but I've seen pools with twice that and all is still perfec except for an occasional hiccup which that can be said for all equipment.

Hello, thanks to everyone for all your help and suggestions. The patio is done. Yeah, the pool equipment is finally here.

1. Could someone please give me some feedback wether Jandy Heater is compatible with intellicenter control listed in my equipment list? In the contract, we supposed to get a pentair 40,000 BTU natural gas heater. A Jandy 40,000N showed on my door steps today. I don’t know what to do. Please help. I want automation that’s why I paid for the latest control panel for. This has been a extremely difficult/ draining project as most of you could see from my questions and timeline.

2. Could you recommend a pool alarm as we are not getting the auto cover and no fence from back door to the pool and I have little kids.

Thank you

Automation can control any heater. No worries there. I don’t think you lose anything at all with the Jandy function wise.

Yes, automation can control any heater. But I do not want a Jandy because of their lack of consumer support. They push all support and service to their dealers. Pentair is more accommodating with direct consumer support.

No doubt your builder got the Jandy heater for a better price. I would insist on the Pentair for better warranty and service.

You should be getting a 3 year warranty from Pentair for all equipment since you purchased 3 or more.

thanks for the suggestions. We have pentair controller, sand filter, chlorinator. Would there’s 3 qualify for 3 yr warranty? My husband checked it’s not specified in the contract to use pentair heater. IDK why it was not specified in the contract cuz we were going for pentair for everything. I have feeling it would be difficult to get a pentair heater now it’s in my deriveway. I will text my husband now.

6 and 7 boys
First question-can the boys swim?

So here are a couple of ideas:
-door and window alarms-now you will come to hate them if you forget to turn them off on a day there is a lot of in and out.
-"driveway" alarm-the kind that goes off when a car drives through the beam. Set it up so the kids will trip it crossing the line trying to sneak out to the pool.

They are old enough to over come the one I suggest for very littles. https://www.amazon.com/Safety-Turtl...ocphy=9011580&hvtargid=pla-348631680190&psc=1 but still wanted to share it with you as you know your boys.

Thanks to everyone’s help. The PB finally hooked up the pump and filter. Water is more clear now. We were able to swim!!!! Can’t remember last time I was in a liner pool.

1. Is it normal for liner at 4 corners not adhering/ hugging the walls at certain areas? You could feel it’s hollow behind it. Same thing with the bottom edges of pool.
2. Certain areas close to the edges on the bottom were bumpy.

should I be worried down the road, such hollow areas more susceptible to punctuation by pool robot/ toy/ walking/ brush?

It is fine. They will only be tight against the wall where there is enough water to stretch it to the wall (especially if it's a 90 degree corner). Mine are as you describe and it is fine (too big and it looks baggy). The roughness may be due to vermiculite being rougher in that location. The robot won't puncture it, only sharp things like tree branches, poles w/o a brush or vac head on it, etc. I wouldn't try to poke my toe through it but regular stepping on occasion isn't a worry.

thank you. Chances of poking a hole in the liner when there’s air behind it is a lot higher than when it’s sticking against sth solid.

Yeah!Heater is hooked on! Anyone find it too hot within 2-3’ of the heater? I am concerned about the intellicenter and the router being too close. Is there any thing I can do to prevent over heat those equipment from the black vent blowing at them? Thx

Whoever installed the heater was not thinking.

I would rotate the heater 90 degrees counterclockwise and adjust the plumbing and gas line to get the vent on the side of the pad.
