Phosphates Question

Do phosphate levels indicate both a) presence of algae AND b) organic material for algae to feast on? Or just the latter?

Pre-SLAM my phosphates were +3,000 ---- and now post-SLAM, below 1,000.

They indicate the presence of phosphates.....nothing more. I can't tell you why the SLAM reduced them.

Pool store tests? Many new members have reported that phosphate tests from pool stores vary with each test.

Good thing they do not matter.

My phosphates went down ostensibly post-SLAM + the water is crystal clear. I didn't do anything to address phosphates directly (ie the stuff that the pool stores sell).

Phosphates do not matter.

I was stating that members have been told one phosphate level one day and the very next day, without doing anything about them, told a completely different level the next day. Thus the testing is not repeatable.
