My pool seems crisper/clearer at 7.2ph verses 7.5. What do you guys and gals try to keep your ph at? Of course it always is going up on me
My PH likes to hang out in the 7.6-7.7 range with a TA of 80. If I lower it to 7.4 or so it just drifts back to the 7.6-7.7 range so I leave it there. Pool looks great and no burning of the eyes so I'm good with it.
I'm the opposite of most of you. I always try to keep my pH around 7.8, because over time my pH tends to drift down. I never let it get below 7.2.
I have 2 theories about my pH. The first is, like you said, the acid well water plus acid rain. The other thing I can think of is that I keep my solar cover on most of the day, except for when I'm swimming for a few hours.I assume this is because of your very low pH fill water from your well?

filled with well water with pH of about 4.5.
Wow. Your well must be tapped into the muriatic acid pipeline.![]()

When I look at my pool spreadsheet, you can see that without fail, my pH always tends to drift down to at least 7.4.
