Pentair SWCG IC40

Shut off pump, take out basket put in a winter plug In the skimmer hole then fill some water with a pail add some bleach but the skimmer basket back in let it soak take a brush and brush well the whole thing and look behind your weir door You may have a lot of nasty's there. Then taking a full pail of water and exchange the skimmer water so you can yake the plug out. Put the basket back in and turn on your pump PERIOD.
Looks like we replied at the same time and missed your message. I scrubbed the bucket clean, topped of chlorine and the doors were clean.

I think you should turn off your SWG until you finish SLAM, so you can get a better idea of what you are actually losing.

Ok done, I went in the pool and did some brushing on the overflow vent. Funny thing I saw yellow spots all over my water feature wall could this be the culprit. I also saw some gunk behind my overflow vent. 20230728_191521.jpg20230728_191513.jpg20230728_191510.jpg

Alright folks, I had to run out for a party last night, ended up coming home uber late.

Here are the last 3 test results, right after my in pool scrubbing and hunting which was just before sunset at 7:47p, when I got home 347a, and this morning while the sun is starting to French kiss my pool at 901am.

Can we come to the conclusion that an FC loss of 1 between 301am to 901am is a passed OCLT, or should keep at it?

The night before my OCLT was a loss of 3.5.

One more day, try OCLT again tonight, and let’s see how you do. Also, can you upload a current pic of your water?

Sure, also the spots on the water feature wall have minimized , a couple more scrubs and that should be cleaned.

Going to take another test and see how it goes.

I'll be out for most of the day 9 hour round trip drive so I'll try my best to make it happen tonight.

Brushed/vacuumed tested again at 17.

So far I haven't had to add any chlorine since 740 yesterday.

Beautiful pool! Remind me again - where is your CYA currently? Do you have SWG on? Hard to imagine absolutely no chlorine lost in over 24 hours without any additions.

Thank you.

FC tested again and is now at 13. The FC did drop just not as much as it was when I started the SLAM process. Just tested CYA and it is 40. I rose the slam to 20 since i was going to be out for a while. Salt cell is unplugged since last night.

Alright today is the day! Last night at 9:53pm the pool tested at 14.5, this morning at 7am it tested at 14.

What I noticed is that my CC registered at a .5.

Moving forward how much FC would you expect me to lose with a CYA of 40 (i lost 7 yesterday). Also should I tackle CYA gradually to 80 while monitoring FC? Then tackle pH, TA, CH then salt?

Also should I use chlorine and the reintroduce my salt cell?

For my understanding, where would the error occur. I have a speedstir, rinsing the test kit with pool water and counting my drops.

Tested again 2.5 hours later still at 14.

I'll go one more day.

I think what he is trying to say is it’s a little more work to go one more day and a lot more work to spin up to SlAM from scratch again

Re FC - you will lose proportionally more at higher FC and at lower CYa. So your loss is not unreasonable. I would raise to 80 CYA in one go - i would aim for 60 and then 70 etc and your Fc loss should drop.

You should use LC to get to target Fc level (at end of day target or morning target - levels will be different depending on your starting time) and then use the SWG to maintain. It does no harm to turn on the SWG now and let it run …. Your FC levels will continue to drop until the CYA is increased if if not wrong….

My 2 cents

Ps - be absolutely sure about passing all 3 SLAM criteria before raising CYA otherwise its a self inflicted raise of your FC slam target to headache inducing levels

Just checking - you say "new pool owner" - is that "new pool" owner - as in "new pool" - or an established pool that you now own? The reason I ask - if truly a new pool - typically there is no salt added for 30 days. And if salt is not present - the SWG should not be run at all.

I understand that, the counting of drops over the last 7 days has replaced counting sheep. I feel like my dreams have turned into the Marvel studios intro replaced with a speed stir with a magnetic pill spinning and powder and drops and the solution going from pink to clear.

What I am trying to say is I will put the size of my drops, the pace of my drops against anyone on this forums.

I added more chlorine to get it back up...and I'll SLAM away.

Yes the pool, "shines bright like a diamond", OCLT passed, and CC have been mostly around 0, at times to .5.

Mew pool and first time owning a pool.

That is correct my PB didn't follow the no salt cell running and it was running during start up but with 0 salt.

The people came in and dumped 400lbs of salt just before the 30 day mark hit and noone has come back to test the salt level since, but I got it all in writing and the PB hasn't got their final payment yet.

No one is trying to imply anything or find fault with what you are doing. It’s just that we’ve seen so many end a SLAM too early and boom, more algae.

In the end, it is your pool and your time and effort, so if you are confidant that your battle is over, go for it!
