Hello,

New pool owner here. Pool company failed to teach me anything after i forked over the money.

Here my question, I have the pentair intellichlor with the pentair intelliflo with the pentair easy touch panel. My intellichlor does not have green lighrs illuminated in the sanitzer output. I did ran a diagnostics check through my easytouch, which states that there are no problems and is set at 50%. Are the green lights inder the santizer output supposed to be illuminTed? I did read that i can only control it through the easy touch panel, but i just want to confirm if the lighrs are supposed to be on or not?

Has anybody had this issue?

Welcome to TFP.

The Sanitizer Output lights should reflect the % the EasyTiuch is set to.

Press the MORE button on the cell and see if the output changes. If it does it shows the cell is not under EasyTouch control.

Z,

Show me a pic of the entire control panel at the top of your EasyTouch..

Then, remove the metal panel that covers the circuit breakers, and show we several pics of the inside the panel.. I need to see the relays and all the
wiring.

Then, drop the front panel down and show me the main circuit card, and anything mounted to the back wall of the EasyTouch

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim Attached are the pics. Please let me know if you see anything. Again the diagnostics says there’s nothing wrong but that would explain why I have low chlorine in my last water test

Z,

I am puzzled.. it does not appear that your IntelliFlo is connected to the J20 com port??? So how does it run?

The J20 Com port is connected to the Surge card, so that means your cell should be talking to the EasyTouch..

Try this.. Menu, Settings, IntelliChlor, Enable = Yes.. What does your show?? Never mind this one..

Also, if you look at your pump's display, does it show "Display not active" or does it show some kind of RPM screen??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Z,

Do you have an IntelliFlo3??? Or the standard IntelliFlo??

My guess is that your pool company was too lazy to connect your IntelliFlo3 up to the EasyTouch like it should be. Sigh!!!

Back to your salt cell.. The cell is talking to the EasyTouch as it shows a salt level.

Can you adjust the output % of the cell from the cell itself.. If you can, the cell does not understand it is connected to an EasyTouch.. Most likely a bad cell.. I don't see anything wrong with your IntelliChlor wiring..

Your pump is another story..

Your pump should be under the control of your EasyTouch. This way, the system controls when the pump runs and at what speed the pump runs.

Thanks,

Jim R.

My pool company is horrible. And ever since I forked over the money, they failed to return any of my phone calls. They failed to give me any sort of equipment orientation so I’m learning all of this from scratch.

As far as my intelliflo, would it be difficult for me to wire it correctly? I am pretty handy but am not no electrician. Currently I control the pump thru my app and am able to program the schedule and gpm….

As far as my salt cell, the more and less buttons do not work. However if I hold down the less button for a couple seconds, it lights up to 60 percent and then turns off a little later. The manual states that that’s some sort of self cleaning mode. If I hold down more button, it lights up sequentially. According to the manual, that’s a way to determine its life.

Any other advice?

Sorry to say, I suspect you cell is bad...

You can press the reset button on the main panel and see what happens,, It is just like rebooting a PC, it will not hurt anything..

It will com back up on its own, but in might take several minutes.

Yes, it is easy to wire up the pump to the EasyTouch, but there is a few things you will need to know first.. I'll be back tomorrow..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I tried calling Pentair but was on hold for 2 hours. Has anybody else had trouble contacting Pentair? Would it be easier contacting another pool company?

Ok, I pressed the reset button and it actually seemed to work. I then increased and decreased the output via the easytouch and the lights on the chlorinator reflected it. My chlorine is at .22, does anybody have any experience in this? Should I super chlorinate it?

I really do appreciate you helping me out. Is this normal? We’ll see in a couple hours if those lights go out or not. I’ll wait for your recommendation on getting this pump wired up

J-

Well I missed the fact that you have no temp sensors connected to your main card in the EasyTouch!!!!!

You have to have Air and Water temp sensors for the system to operate properly..

Show me pics of your Equipment pad.. We need to know if the Sensors are there and just not connected. I suspect that your pool builder just did not install them.. The air temp probe should just be hanging out of the bottom of the EasyTouch cabinet. The Water temp probe should be connected into the pipe between your pump and the Filter.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,

It does not seem that my pool installer installed the sensors. I looked up videos of installation annd neither are present in mine. Are the sensors sold separately or should that have came with the easytouch package?

Does that impact the intellichlor and the intelliflo?

Z,

They come with the EasyTouch, but can be purchased at many places...

I don't think it has an effect on the Pump, but now suspect that is why your SWCG is not working..

I would not do anything else until these are installed..

This is an easy DIY fix.. Are you going to do this, or hire someone? Would require you to drill a hole in the pipe between the pump and the filter, install the probe, and then connect the cable to the main card in the EasyTouch.

If you install the temp sensors, you can also install a two wire cable between the pump and the EasyTouch for pump control.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Ok I appreciate it. I will reach out to my pool company who installed this and inquire why this was never installed. If they don’t respond, which I’m sure they won’t, then I’ll attempt to do it diy. Would wiring it be easy?
