As my struggle with my pool builder contines I wanted to see if anyone sees anything glaring that would fix the issue of trying to get the Intellicenter to connect to my wifi. They had 2 weeks of "working with pentiar".

S,

I'm confused...

Are you trying to use ScreenLogic wireless links with the new IntelliCenter?

Thanks,

Jim R.
I got an IntelliCenter IP8 full kit installed with my new pool. That is what was in the box and how they have installed it so far. So from my understanding nope, No screen logic anything. However, that was what came in the Intellicenter box. But please let me know if you think that is an issue the Pentair is shipping wrong things in boxes.

S,

Let's see if we can get someone that has the IntellCenter to chime in.

The normal ScreenLogic wireless links do to use Wifi so I was just surprised to see the ScreenLogic name. I was under the impression that the IntelliCenter used a true WIFI connection between the Automation and the home network.

Let's see if @guinness, @pjt , or @ajw22 has any inputs..

Thanks,

Jim R

What is the part number for your wireless link?

I have the 523434 High Power Wireless Link and it works great.

Inside IntelliCenter, you should have green and amber lights illuminated on the ethernet port:

I have the older EnGenius WiFi bridge so I'm not familiar with the newer Quest wireless link. The telling issue is that the ethernet port on the IC has no lights. Normally the orange light indicates speed and a blinking green light indicates activity. What I would recommend is to take your indoor ethernet switch out to the panel and connect an ethernet cable between it and the IC. You should then see lights on both devices. If you don't then it could mean there is an issue with the IC ethernet port.

Jim, the IntelliCenter originally used the EnGenius WiFi Link Kit as a WIFI bridge to connect to the home network. Many folks had problems with the EnGenius dropping the WiFi link and not reconnecting so Pentair substituted the Pentair IntelliCenter Wi-Fi Link Kit (523557). However 523557 does not appear to be available anyplace.

People seem to be using 523434 which is the ScreenLogic 900Mhz Link Kit.

I will observe that @pjt has a Rev A-4 version of 523434 while @Slapulator has an original version.

Like many things Pentair it is as clear as mud which version is needed. I am using the EnGenius WiFi bridge with few problems and have not needed to figure out this 900Mhz bridge stuff.

@Slapulator It doesn't need to be connected to the inside internet router to test. All you want is to temporarily test that the ethernet port on the IC is working. If you have an electrical outlet near the IC plug the switch into that and then run a short ethernet cable between the switch and the IC ethernet port (J14) directly (not using the black PoE injector cable). You should at least get a LED on both the switch and the IC ethernet port to light up to indicate the link is established.

Does the top of your inside unit say "ScreenLogic" on it?

That is what got me confused. (Among almost everything else... )
Yes, it's confusing. It appears that the High Power Wireless Connection Kit is now used for both EasyTouch and IntelliCenter as described in the Installation Guide. The wireless transceivers have connections for either RS-485 or ethernet respectively, you only use one. I suppose that simplifies the inventory for Pentair, but the documentation needs improving.

OK that's good. Maybe try using another ethernet cable to replace the gray one supplied by Pentair (between the external transceiver and the black PoE injector). If that doesn't work (no lights) I would suggest asking Pentair to replace the high power wireless connection kit.

Thanks to the video linked by ajw22 and the image from colonelkirby I think I figured out what each of the part numbers contains.

523434 (LINK WIRELESS HIGHPOWER WETH) - includes indoor and outdoor transceivers, power adapter and 4 conductor wire for RS-485.

544425 (CABLE POE/ETHERNET HIGH POWER WIRELESS BUNDLE) - includes gray ethernet cable, black PoE adapter and cable restrainer.

523557 (XCVR ASSY HPW 900MHZ INTELLICENTER) - includes 523434, 544425 and a blue ethernet patch cable.

@Slapulator You should ask Pentair for part 544425 instead of buying your own cable. If you find this site helpful, please consider a donation.

You can use any WiFi bridge like Vonets VAP11S as long as you can provide a suitable power source.
