Pentair IC40 powered over winter?

Moved from here.
I know I wouldn't switch back, but if I had no intention of going back to salt, I would buy a 14" piece of 2" PVC and two couplings. A bottle of PVC cement later and you have don't have to worry any more.

In my case, I gutted my old IC40 by just cutting out the fins and cutting the cord. I then will unscrew the coupling and replace with my working IC40. This is my first year doing this, so I'm not sure yet if turning it off in the easytouch will keep it from powering on or if I have to unplug it from the relay. We shall see.

Just use a Feature to set the pump run time. Not Pool Mode. The SWCG only activates in Pool Mode.

I don’t understand what there is to turn off when you install the gutted cell housing???

If you are going to go through the trouble of putting in the dummy cell I would unplug the good cell and take it indoors.

I get your point... but you also live in NJ with real weather and I live in Southern CA with maybe 5 days of rain and lows in the 40's for a week or so. A black sealed bag under a covered equipment pad should be okay. If I have to unplug it and undo the conduit clamps holding the cable, then it will go in the garage.

Killer,

I would not leave it powered up without water flow..

You can just unplug the pump/filter relay coil wire.. assuming you don't use the actual relay for something else.

Thanks,

Jim R.

My IC cells have sat connected 24/7/365 through snow, ice, rain, all four seasons running and not running for 20 years. I see no reason to remove it for a So Cal winter.
