I know I wouldn't switch back, but if I had no intention of going back to salt, I would buy a 14" piece of 2" PVC and two couplings. A bottle of PVC cement later and you have don't have to worry any more.
In my case, I gutted my old IC40 by just cutting out the fins and cutting the cord. I then will unscrew the coupling and replace with my working IC40. This is my first year doing this, so I'm not sure yet if turning it off in the easytouch will keep it from powering on or if I have to unplug it from the relay. We shall see.
