Can you provide us more detail on your filter or possibly a picture? There is no ic40 Pentair Filter.

I need help with instructions on how to prevent lid blowing off our pentair ic40 swg pressure tank. The lid has blown off, we have tightened the screw to tight and broke it. Watched many YouTube videos. Do not know what we are doing wrong. Pool service replaced it twice. We had algae growing so we removed the clamp and lid to wash filters now cannot get the lid back on without it blowing off.

The filter is not the problem. The problem is getting the clamp on the filter barrel and starting the pump without it blowing off the lid.

This appears to be a DE filter. What model is it? Is the clamp compromised?
No it not. We put the clamp on exactly as our pool company told us too. Wateched YouTube videos and did exactly as instructed. We do not know what we are doing wrong. Pool guy will not come at a convenient time to show my husband how to get it back on. He just wants to keep charging us for a service call.

Donna,

I looks to me like your band clamp has stretched and you can no longer get it tight enough.. You need a new band clamp.

Thanks,

Jim R.
The one in the picture is the one the pool guy put on. We have so much algae problem we had to take it off to wash filter again. We have bought the third one. Wanting for it to arrive from Amazon. Our pool pump has not been on for one month now. We keep shocking it to kill algae.08D06EF4-5E17-41C9-B394-00F838A35777.jpeg

The one in the picture is a new one replaced by the pool guy.

Is it just not seating itself and ‘grabbing’ the 2 halves of the filter ? Many folks need to give theirs some love taps with a rubber mallet while tightening.

Are you following the instructions in your filter operating manual on how to put it on? The threaded area with the spring appears to be bent, is it or is that an optical illusion?

It be optical illusion because this s a pic that the pool guy put on which stayed on. We had to remove it again because of the algae issue that developed waiting on the part to arrive. The pool guy failed to tell us that this would happen. We have had our pool for nearly 5 years with no issues and now pool pump has not been on for nearly a month. We keep breaking the clamp when it blows off. Need help!

We have filter cassette in the pressure tank that we have been cleaning due to algae.
thank you for your assistance. We have spent $$$$ this season because of this problem. Service calls several new clamps chemicals lots of time cleaning and shocking.

Your algae is a chemistry issue. Once you are able to get the filter secure, we can discuss that issue. With a de filter it can be labor intensive
I know I was explaining why we keep taking off the clamp as our pool told us to clean filter.
we have cassette filters is that de filter. Plus we do not have a gauge for the tank. Is that critical? It was not installed with our pump.

Yes this is what we are doing but some reason the lid blows off.
