Paramount valet inflow popup installation tool - what tool/pole to connect 1/2" male square drive end to?

I am looking to remove and repair some inflow popups that aren't popping up. I have already replaced the gear head assembly, so next step is to try and dislodge the popups by removing and cleaning them.

I couldn't remove them with 2 screwdrivers, so I bought the official paramount installation tool for the valet series popups. It doesn't connect to a standard 2 button push connector like a pool brush, though. Instead, the tool has a 1/2" male square drive, like a socket wrench but the other direction.

What adapter do I need to connect this to a pole for leverage?

It looks like that fits a 1/2" ratchet wrench.

Maybe @1poolman1 has used it and can confirm.
 
Ratchet wrench are almost always male, too, though, right? I get I could use a female-to-female 1/2" square drive coupler, but that seems kludgy.

Was hoping I could attach this to a 8-12' pole though (the newer PCC 2000 attaches that way), so I could loosen the ones in the deep end without diving (I have ear surgery from childhood that preclude me from putting that much pressure on my ear drum), and trying to avoid hiring out to essentially twist their wrist for me :).
